After being completely lyrical and up in the blue a while ago when Hell on Wheels played extremely good at a concert I was on, I bought the CD and went home to listen to it. I wasn't disappointed, but it just wasn't as good as "the real thing".
The music breathes with life and energy, but that is nothing compared to the feeling they were able communicate on stage. However, playing in a studio is obviously not the same as standing there, live on the stage. The CD was worth every cent although some songs are even better live. I recommend it strongly though, the music has a nice "swing" to it.

Saw the Amazing Pilots as the main support for Richmond Fontaine recently. Just remember being totally blown back by them, and bought the CD there on the spot. This album really is great, I can't find fault in any song. The beauty of 'The Price Of Water', 'Dirty Love' and the gorgeous closing track 'Still not changed my mind' are apparent instantly but on further listens you uncover quality in every other song. Particularly 'I don't know, where are you' which really stood out live. Well worth a listen, do yourself a favour and get hold of this album.

"Parade" is an impressive work of art. Jason Robert Brown wrote the music and lyrics when he was just 23 and a newcomer to Broadway and, as other reviewers have said, he has proven that Sondheim's legacy of creating ambitious and nuanced works of musical theatre will continue.
"Parade" is based on the true-life story of Leo Frank, a New Yorker living in Atlanta, Georgia who in 1913 was falsely accused of murdering 13-year-old Mary Phagan and lynched by an angry mob.
The musical deals with several sensitive and complex issues such as racism and molestation with refreshing maturity, and nowhere else is this more apparent than in the show's signature song, "The Old Red Hills of Home". In this gut-wrenchingly beautiful ... Read More:
