A Case for Case: a Tribute to the Songs of Peter Case

Search: Way Downtown
by: Various Artists

Release Date October 02, 2006
My guess is that if you're thinking of buying 'A Case for Case' you already love the man and his music. That being so, you already know that these are terrific songs from a criminally under-rated songwriter. It's also a fair bet that you will know many of the artists involved in this project, and hold them in high regard. The affection in which these artists hold Peter Case is evident in the accompanying booklet, itself an enjoyable read. So with that in mind, what you need to know is that this is a fine collection of fine performances. Sure some are more successful than others, but there are no real clinkers, and many highlights. Plus it's great value. And it's for a good cause. What are you waiting for?

Full Service, No Waiting

Search: Way Downtown
by: Peter Case

Release Date October 31, 2005
"Full service...." has become one of my favourite all-time albums. The songwriting is even better than Case's brilliant debut album and his vocals even more passionate. Case's guitar picking is spendidly urgent and the superb accompaniment (Greg Leisz on lap steel) and sparse arrangements always lets the songs shine through. And what fantastic songs - "Beautiful Grind" is a classic, other stand outs are "Spell of Wheels", "Downtown", "Let Me Fall", "Still Playing" - in fact they're all great. So much more honest and tuneful than most of the rubbish in the pop charts. Wonderful lyrics and a lovely live feel to the music - just like I remember them when I saw him live at Downpatrick Folk ... Read More:
