 Rating: - Great collection from overlooked shoegazers - but with a caveatThe Charlottes were one of the finest British indie/noise bands following in the wake of My Bloody Valentine, and their sound has dated very well. The second album, Things Come Apart, is one of the best realised recordings of the genre, featuring some spectacularly overloaded guitar. and comes close to representing their incredible live performances. The famous/infamous Peel session, unfortunately not included on this set, is perhaps marginally superior. A comprehensive collection of their work is therefore extremely welcome, including as it does the debut independent single and early Subway Organisation material.
