The No.1 Ska AlbumSearch: Whisper - Selecter (1) by: Various Artists Release Date March 10, 1997 My first experience of this type of music was back in the two tone days of Madness, Specials, Beat, Selecter, Bad Manners and Bodysnatchers. At the time I was simply blown away with the sheer energy and passion the music created. There was also a terrific dress code to accompany this new style. Two-Tone was born. Its now a household name for those years, but meekly began as a low budget record label by Jerry Dammers ( keyboard player with The Specials). Many of the songs were in fact covers of earlier "reggae/ska/rocksteady" tunes from the 60s and early 70s. . The Ultimate Two Tone Ska AlbumSearch: Whisper - Selecter (1) by: Beat Release Date September 06, 1999 Great CD if you don't own any Beat or Selecter yet, and want to know what they're all about! In my opinion, they are missing some of the best of each band, but they still have lots of the hits in there. Good for the money. |
