Not as much doo wop as its understood by -its what led to it-equally what led also to the rise of black music.
After all the name "doo wop" never existed till the early 60s in the same way that the name "soul" didn't in the 50s (outside of a Ray Charles album)
So these are black harmony groups who were originally on the fringe of jazz.
The Deep River Boys heard here on one track had a new career in England in the 50s when they began covering rock'n'roll songs like Whole lotta shakin' and Rock around the Clock so they were seen on TV a lot.
