Cafe Mambo - Ibiza 2005: Mixed By Pete GoodingSearch: White Line by: Pete Gooding Release Date June 27, 2005 I wouldn't normally buy anything that originated from the mixing desks in Ibiza but as this album was in the chillout section in the shop and i wanted to try something different I bought it. Am I glad I did that!! This is one of the best mix albums i have and rarely a week goes by when i don't isten to a few tracks form this 2cd album. Disc 1 gently eases you in with a smooth selection of chilled beats that takes you to that blissful place when you are relaxing with a summer drink, watching the sunset at a bar by the sea. Disc 2 is much of the same although its a little more upbeat, with a few tracks in there to get you moving. I love the fact that you get a chilled out 'Day' CD perfect for relaxing, putting on while doing things around the house, or kicking back in the sun with friends. The 'night' CD has some top hits, and contained some tunes which I'd forgotten; really good to hear them again, great for getting ready to go out or to train to. Makes a good change from all the Hed Kandi and other funky house albums which have flooded the scene lately. |

. Above the Volcano of FlowersSearch: White Line by: Fire Show Release Date January 28, 2002 Let's just say that this isn't a punk record as you knew it. In fact, I'm not entirely sure who the best audience for Above the Volcano of Flowers is, or what little genre pigeonhole it fits in. "Designing a Steeper Cliff" takes a great song in the vein of Kid A and 'Feeling Gravity's Pull' by REM and twists it into all sorts of weird shapes before coming back to the original tune, and is amazing. Track 2, "Heart Muscle Mass" is as jittery and pulsing as the title suggests. Perhaps the biggest problem with this record is that the five tracks that follow just aren't as good as the first two.
