Editorial Review:
Amazon.co.uk Review: Reanimation is the evil twin of Linkin Park's 2000 debut, Hybrid Theory. While plotting their next studio album, the Southern California band enlisted some of aggro rock's leading lights, as well as some of the more enlightened underground MCs and producers, to slice and dice all the songs on their debut (including a few bonus cuts that made it to their Japanese release). Linkin Park allowed their special guests--including Korn's Jonathan Davis, Staind's Aaron Lewis, Orgy's Jay Gordon, the Roots' Black Thought, and Jurassic 5's Chali 2NA--to run riot through their songbook, tweaking melodies, writing new lyrics and sometimes changing the entire intent of the originals. As a result, this collection of 20 songs is Mr Hyde to Hybrid Theory's Dr Jekyll.
Most of Linkin Park's atmospheric and melodic moments have ended on the cutting-room floor--along with the self-consciousness that pervaded many of the songs--replaced with a brash impudence that's more rap than rock. Chali 2NA entirely changes the landscape on "Forgotten", shape-shifting the song into an alien being dubbed "Frgt/10", which takes you to a dark, desolate place with only your own disturbed thoughts and some electronic bleeps for company. And that's enough. This is a masterful art project that truly succeeds. --Jaan Uhelszki

I can see how this album has divided opinion among Linkin Park fans for it's seemingly large step away from the Linkin Park norm.
I can also see that those who bought 'Reanimation' on it's release date would have been understandably disappointed, as this is in it's basic form a remix album of the previous 'Hybrid Theory' and not a brandspanking new creation.
That said, although this is indeed a new direction it is in my opinion an outstanding collaboration project between Linkin Park and the numerous DJ's and artists that helped create this interpretation of 'Hybrid Theory'
The fact that the songs taken are in so many ways indistinguishable but at the same time being incredibly reminiscent is amazing. It's a ... Read More:

Very enjoyable, especially as remix albums go!
Many of the Hybrid Theory tracks are improved on, and there is some excellent production work at play here. Yes, you do need an open mind as the tracks edge further from Metal towards Hip Hop & Electro.
Recommended alongside Mike Shinoda's excellent Fort Minor project...

This CD is better than hybrid theory
Most remix cd's ruin the legacy but this raises the bar

To call this album a 're-mix' of Hybrid theory, would be like saying the Mona Lisa is just 'a painting'. It's a completely successful re-working of a masterpiece and in this day and age, that's an extremely rare thing.
This album is probably my favourite out of all Linkin Park's albums, and I almost feel a little disappointed that the band haven't done similar follow up albums to 'Meteora' and 'Minutes to Midnight'. (But I still am holding on to the hope that they will!).
My favourite tracks have to be Pts. OF Athrty and Krwlng. These tracks give the original songs a complete different sound and feeling to them. A master class in originality, and I know it's been said to death in all the other reviews, but it just ... Read More:

I still can't believe the talent that goes into this album. As if creating the original tracks with a blend of screaming and soft vocals, crunching and mellow guitars, rapping and scratching wasn't enough, Linkin Park have collaborated with a whole crowd of artists and produced an incredible result.
Re-Animation has enough fresh sounds to merit listening to Meteora still, but captures elements of each track and mashes them up to aural delight!!
I think this album is brilliant, and the artwork is awesome too. Special credit to Mike Shinoda, who not only raps on the tracks but produced the whole album, crafted the carefully orchestrated intro and outro, and generally shaped the sound of this record.
