If you are familiar with Mogwai then you know how well they can put an album together. Young Team is no exception, far from it. Mogwai do not disappoint, listen to how well these God-like melodic breaths of music massage your thoughts and ears after a hard day and lead you into a sublime trance of relaxation. I am still listening for a third time and absorbing my favorites "like herod" and "summer". Enjoy!

I've only given this one listen through so far, and I've loved every bit of it so far. First stand-out track was Tracy, and it was only after listening to the sublime Mogwai Fear Satan that I was able to understand the luke-warm reviews of Mr. Beast. This is in my opinion their very best album.

Young Team will probably always be my favourite Mogwai album, as I associate it with a certain period of time and it was the first thing I bought by them. That's not to say the things released before & after have no value- My Father the King & Happy Songs for Happy People were standout releases. I had been listening to lots of old Echo & the Bunnymen and Joy Division records when this came out, & it fitted with those- the next step on, no need for vocals. This is probably where the post-rock tag came in...& Mogwai stand out as one of those post-rock (or should it be post-Slint?) acts who espouse an indie (pre-Britpop/Corporate perversion) aesthetic & create soundscapes from what was once guitar rock- see also: Explosions ... Mogwai are truely amazing in this album. Their tracks are incredible, beautiful. The LP starts off with "Yes, I am a long way from home" and a woman describing Mogwai as the stars. She is not wrong, if the stars did have a sound, Mogwai is who they would sound like. They are completly out of this world. Like Herod is a unique song in the way that it scares the living daylights out of you, but i wong go into it, because you have to experience it for yourself.Katerin is a great song, producing dark, minor key sounds with quiet muttering in the background, and the unique Mogwai drumming.
