Having got my hands on the bands new album on pre-release, I have to say that it looks like a bright future ahead of Underground Railroad. This week NME declared them the "the alt.rock album of 2008" and its easy to see why. Formed five years ago, Underground Railroad paved their road to success in the same Parisian region once inhabited by Air.

Their debut album - "Twisted Tree's" came out last year and really showed vast reserves of potential ready to be tapped. Cybill actually began as a folk singer before becoming famous as an actress. Her acting career is of no interest to me, so my assessment of Cybill is based entirely on her ability as a singer and the quality of the music. No problem there - Cybill has a lovely voice and uses it well on a selection of songs that may be described as jazz with a blues flavor.

Three of the songs - Power of love, Mama's cooking and Find another fool - are covers of Marcia Ball songs. Marcia is an excellent blues-rock singer-songwriter, whose songs Cybill does full justice to.
