I gave up listening to chart music around 1990, finally seeing it for what it is, merely a money-making exercise. But tears for Fears, Like Sting and a few others, are one of those musical gifts from the 1980s that continue to merit attention. They have never been flavour of the month, they are never mentioned as a genre-defining, or era-defining band. Certainly they have not been elevated to any legendary status regardless of two U.S. number ones. So much the better (in my personal opinion) because if they were constantly analysed and examined many would become quite sick of them. Tears for Fears were smart, always keeping their distance for the ugly freak show that was 80's pop. Instead they crafted thought provoking music and a string of excellent albums. Tears Roll Down - Greatest Hits 1982 - 1992Search: Young At Heart by: Tears For Fears Release Date February 07, 2005 i was in the same music group as roland in the 70s @ culverhay school bath,he was always into beatles & beach boys then & even now when i listen to tears for fears greatest hits , i can hear an echo of sgt pepper in sowing the seeds,roland was always dedicated to writing & performing music & i said to him, "well done,you worked hard,you did it,you are famous!" i didnt know curt but it was always crystal clear the creative one in the band was roland. this collection is a fine example of "look at us ,the boys from down the road ,we did it so can you!" maybe ,but orzabal is modest,i know hes far more talented than just a songwriter! great collection,buy it! |

Ultimate CollectionSearch: Young At Heart by: Tears for Fears Release Date Perhaps I'm being too literal, but I think the "Ultimate" Collection would include all their hits as well as alot (or perhaps ALL) of the remixes and all the b-sides/hard-to-find tracks. There is very little here in terms of b-sides/bonus tracks and only a very few remixes. There is a vast amount of the duo's output that is missing. And this is the "Ultimate" Collection? Hardly. Not worth the money. |
