This series of compilations has managed to remain consistent since vol 1. By this volume, some of the sampled tracks are more famous than those that sampled them, but they as a stand alone collection, one of the best around today.

Electro Beatbox is a bit beyond electro during its three-disc duration, it includes old-school tracks that have loose ties to electro, and a few other selections dip into the golden age of the late '80s and early '90s. Undeniable electro classics like Hashim's "Al Naayfish (The Soul)," the Egyptian Lover's "Egypt Egypt," and Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" butt heads with later gems like the 45 King's "The 900 Number," Ultramagnetic MC's' "Travelling at the Speed of Thought," Young MC's "Know How," and JVC Force's "Strong Island." This goes too far stylistically to be considered a definitive electro compilation, but its combination of electro with later-period material shows how much influence theese oldschool tracks have made in music history.

I completey agree with the previous reviewer. The album does have some decent tracks, but it is very samey for the majority.

All credit to all concerned (particularly Alan Bremner who Mixed and Engineered the thing), this is an enjoyable mix of old house classics, many of which if you'll probably have on vinyl or whatever (if you're old and ugly enough!). Alan's Leftfield and Young MC mash up on CD1 is definitely a highlight for me.

So here we have an attempt to revisit the late 1980's. The time when there was a joyous explosion and development in dance orientated music that was as vibrant as it was varied. The time before genres become ever increasingly split and became the preserve of small self-interested groups. This was a time when you could walk in to your local record shop and look at a 'dance chart' and see a single chart containing the likes of A Guy Called Gerald, KC Flyte, Sugar Bear and Humanoid. And you wouldn't have to have a degree in musical obscurantism to have the person working in the record shop talk to you without a sneering disdain.
So looking at the music tracks included here you have a pretty good selection of tracks taken from what would ... Read More:
