I love this video, because it combines some of the best musicals around! Sarah brightman enchants as Christine Daae in the music videos for Phantom of the opera, and All i ask of you! And Cliff Richard singing as Raoul is definatly amazing! But i have to say the star of it is Michael Crawford who of course was the origional phantom, sings Music of the night as only he can! Bringing me to tears every time! There are also a host of other well known performers such as Michael Ball who sings The First Man You Remember, and Jason Dovovan! Definatly one to watch!

I found this performance of Giordano's Andrea Chénier a very satisfying experience. The settings were in true La Scala style. The gentle mocking of the dress and mores of the times in the lavishly presented first act contrasted well with the austere despair of the following acts. José Carreras as the hapless poet Andrea Chénier gave a sensitive performance throughout. His Su Dalla Terra in the first act lay beautifully on the voice and was sung with great feeling. In the final duet, vicino a te s'acqueta ,I felt he struggled a little. The power was just not there.
