I bought this dvd for my dad's birthday. He was thrilled to find that I had bought him the film that he saw and instantly loved a few years ago. I would highly recommend it.

Airplane is the funniest film I have ever seen. The plot is simple, an ex fighter pilot Ted, goes to the airport to persuade his ex girlfriend Elaine to get back with him. When she says no, Ted buys a ticket (smoking or non smoking!) and boards the plane, the flight crew then succumb to food poisoning and then its up to Ted with Elaine's help, to land the plane! The jokes come thick and fast and are genuinly funny. The only complaint is that this DVD has no extras but the film is side-splittingly funny, buy it now!

When I was about to watch this so called Exorcist spoof, I was expecting tons of laughs and a film that could possibly be better than THE NAKED GUN!!! It stars Leslie Nielsen so what could go wrong? Then I watched it. It is nothing but an unfunny wannabe spoof that tries hard to equal with the classic ZUCKER ABRAHAMS ZUCKER movies. It fails miserably. All jokes fall flat on their faces and has acting that will make you cringe and think 'this acting doesn't belong in a spoof!'
We see father Jedediah Mayii (played by Leslie Nielsen taking off Max Von Sydow)who must rid Nancy Aglet (Linda Blair) of the devil...again, years after she was possessed as a child. Linda Blair looks embarrased to be in the movie as her acting in the ... Read More:

This is one of the funniest hour and a halfs I ever spent. The gags really have to be seen to be believed, and it's a real travesty that this has never been put on DVD. If you like the Naked Gun, this is the inspiration for it, and much much funnier...

"Police Squad," which aired in 1982, starred Leslie Nielsen as Detective Frank Drebin, Alan North as Captain Ed Hocken, Ed Williams as scientist Ted Olson, William Duell as Johnny the Snitch, and Rex Hamilton as Abraham Lincoln. The first three episodes from the short-lived but well-remembered comedy created by the Zucker Brothers are preserved on this tape. I have included both the title that appeared on the screen and the one intoned by the narrator (in that order). Oh, and please remember that the "guest star" for each episode is always killed during the title credits. Now, back to the episodes:
(1) "A Substantial Gift"/"The Broken Promise," the March 4, 1982 series premier with guest star Lorne Greene (dumped out of a car with a knife ... Read More:

In the 23 century a rescue ship is sent to the planet Altar to look for survivors of an earlier expatiation. They find nothing except an ominous voice warning them not to land. What would you do?
Notice that the investigating party is the captain, first officer, and medical doctor. Can your say Star Trek?
This movie has many plusses as both sociological (people like to compare this to Shakespeare's "The Tempest"). Visual from the color of the sky to the accoutrements of Altiara (Anne Francis). The speculation on what would you do in this situation. And the introduction of Robby the robot who went on to be a star in other movies and a guest on many TV programs.
The movie was great I watch it over and again. However ... Read More:

When the owner of an orphanage leaves, his dad (Leslie Nielsen) takes over and comes up with the novel idea to let wanna-be parents try it out for a couple of days and if they don't want the kid they can return him. A married couple rent 3 kids. A family movie.

Popular spectator sports bore me. Why would I want to sit around, watching a bunch of obscenely overpaid muscular guys (often in shorts or very tight trousers) run around after a ball? Ick. MOVIES about popular spectator sports are even worse: self-indulgent, two-hour gooey moments of the writers and directors and actors professing their love for watching a bunch of obscenely overpaid muscular guys (often in shorts or very tight trousers) run around after a ball. Double Ick.
No, it's the less-well-publicised niche sports that I find more interesting, and MOVIES about these niche sports are even better, because you get all the rules and most of the subtleties explained to you as they happen in the movie, so you know exactly what's going on and what's ... Read More:
