i first came across this movie when i went to the cinema to see another movie and the trailer for dangerous hearts came on i thought mm that might be good ,being a fan of veronica francos works and having read about her i thought that this movie would interest me .i saw this movie and now i dare say i could act in it .it is very enjoyable the scenery breath taking ,rufus sewell is brilliant as marco and the love story between him and veronica is acted out beautifully .this is the kind of movie where after a hard day you can put your feet up and relax and enjoy .i could go on all day about how much i love this movie but i wont bore you all i will say is give this movie a go if you enjoy a period piece with a good true story you will love this ... The ONLY advantage this DVD has over the US/Canada version (which is in it's entirety on ONE side) is that this DVD is Anamorphic Widescreen (whereas the US/Canada version is NON-Anamorphic Widescreen).

A very quick addition to the comments below which have just about said it all. This is a fantastic film if you like, boxing, hustling, gamesmanship, action-comedies. This is a fantastic film if you hate boxing, hustling, gamesmanship, action-comedies. As is said before I challenge anyone to guess the final twist before its revealed. The final twist that is, not the twist you think you see coming at the end, oh no, I mean the twist after that.
The only grumble I have about this film is that one of the opponents for Honey Ray to face is SOOOO huge, that you really can't see him ever losing. On the upside the sight of Heather Grahams legs more than make up for this.

I have yet to actually meet someone else outside our family who has seen this masterpiece. It is a work of genius. It's hugely funny , worrying, sad, tragic and uplifting - and there aren't too many film you can say that about.

The breadth of strange talent on display is staggering. The one man marching band who uses no instruments and the biscuit tin tap dancer to name but two.

The leads are universally excellent. Oliver Platt went on to do wonderful work (see The Imposters)and Lee Evans has never been funnier. leslie Caron is gorgeous, Jerry Lewis is bravely unlikeable and even the dog "Toast" has character. Everyone who loves Oliver Platt and wrestling will love this one.
Someone said on another site that it killed WCW, well that is nonsense.
A great little movie, even better with Bill Goldberg shining in it.
Yes; I am a big fan of "The Man".
