I love this film so much it hurts - but it has to be a guilty-pleasure because so many of the jokes are low-brow, groan-inducing and sometimes incredibly childish. The dead-pan comic genius of Leslie Nielsen makes up for it in spades. My favourite scene, and probably the most expertly constructed in terms of sight-gags in background as well as foreground as well as script and comic timing, is played out in Lt. Drebben's chosen watering hole, The Blue Note nightclub. Ridiculous and often off-the-pier, this is a laugh-riot of a film. And remember your code phrase, 'I love it'.

You need to watch this film. For some reason it has dissolved into the `that was a great film but we never hear about it` category. A bit the same as the `Trinity` spagetti westerns. It's just funny, it's the guy all guys wanted to be about the time of Grease, then the world became PC. Thing is, it's like going to a Chubby Brown stand up night ... makes you cringe for the females then you realise half the audience is female ... they get it. Sex and the City ... some guys got it ... well the balance is there and it will have you doubled up in laughter and repeating a lot of the lines such as "unbelievable", this word was made for the way it is said by Ford in the film. If you can get hold of it ... do so.

When I first watched this film on TV, I was expecting some poor grade film with only a couple of laughs. But I was wrong, VERY WRONG!This film is extremely funny!I had not seen the first two, but still found myself rolling around laughing. The jokes take little understanding and I recommend this to anyone who likes classic light hearted comedies.
