I'd heard a fair bit about this film since it came out quite a few years ago, and finally I got my hands on a copy of it and this didn't disappoint. With great performances from Giovanni Ribisi, Ben Affleck and Vin Diesel, a great story, a really good old school hip hop soundtrack and very well filmed this has to be seen as a modern classic. Based around the illegal stockbroking business this film plays out like a gangster movie without actually being a gangster movie. Someone said on another site that it killed WCW, well that is nonsense.
A great little movie, even better with Bill Goldberg shining in it.
Yes; I am a big fan of "The Man".

Action movies with intellect are sadly thin on the ground, but this is a star. The principles are fairly competent criminals who chance across a possible big score. They act with some sense, ability and understanding to peruse their agenda's, but there are no `Swordfish' master criminals, or ludicrous John Woo gun fights.

The shoot outs really deserve a special mention. They were choreographed by the Director's brother an ex Navy Seal, and it really shows. This couldn't be further than the usual idiotic jumping through the air with pistols, hell they even reload. About every reviewer here has mentioned the `show car chase' and for good reason. I caught this on TV in June '08; it is a 'Young Guns' movie without jokes. The action was not without merit, but the acting was weak except for a young Colin Farrell, and i had to put my hands over my ears at points to quell my nausea due to a poor script. Other than that it is a good movie for Children.

A film that can best be described as the "dumb version" of Young Guns, American Outlaws ranks among the year's most entertainingly insipid movies.
