Pinocchio : Special Edition [1940]

starring: Dickie Jones, Christian Rub, Mel Blanc, Don Brodie, Walter Catlett
directed by: Ben Sharpsteen, Hamilton Luske

Release Date March 03, 2003
now it may be a classic, but i'm afraid i was really disappointed with this film. my 5 yr old was frankly bored watching this, it was very slow to get moving. the story line was not what i was expecting. the jimmney cricket / conscience was to abstract for him to understand in the way it was presented. and there was a terrible bit later on with pinnochio getting drunk and smoking cigars. that bit raised a few tricky questions.

what i had expected the main story line to be - pinnochio's nose growing long when he lied, occured only once for about 20 seconds in the middle of the film and never again.

we will not be watching this one again
sadly not enjoyable or educational

with the amazing animation and the trademark singalongs you know this is a disney film what can you say when the people at disney pump out great film after great film? well for me this film doesnt quite deserve the prestigus 5 star mark purley because i thought that the story seemed very very rushed but apart from that the characters are great physically and vocually (espseacially mr smee)and the constantly present "disney magic" is there so i am not complaining (that much) definatly worth a look young or old

Alice In Wonderland (1951) (Disney)

starring: Kathryn Beaumont, Ed Wynn, Richard Haydn, Sterling Holloway, Jerry Colonna
directed by: Clyde Geronimi, Hamilton Luske, Wilfred Jackson

Release Date April 11, 2005
First time i saw this movie i was about 6 or 7 years old and it became one of my favorite cartoons.
Then i watched it last night (Im 24 now) and it was more intresting than the first time.
I think Alice in Wonderland is a pure acid trip story, check the colors, voices, the worm with the bong and that mushroom (Magic mushroom maybe) she ate that made her big and small ??????? and also that weird cat.
This movie is made in a way that makes any one who watches it love it.

This is a charming tale of friendship and loyalty with a little romance too. This is a film not just for children but for the whole family to enjoy time after time. Disney's classic 'Lady And The Tramp' is my favourite Disney film, as it contains something for everyone. So add 'Lady And The Tramp' to your Disney classics collection and let it work its way into your heart!

starring: Paul Frees, Clarence Nash
directed by: Hamilton Luske

One of those rare somewhat obscure Disney films. Nobody seems to have seen it - and few show any inclination to, despite my rallyings! I quite like the fact that only a select few (okay, it's Disney, it's all relative, I know) have seen this movie and really, it's great. Watch it. Love maths. Even if it is for only an hour or two.

So Dear To My Heart (1948) (Disney)

starring: Burl Ives, Beulah Bondi, Bobby Driscoll, Luana Patten, Harry Carey
directed by: Hamilton Luske, Harold D. Schuster

Release Date July 03, 2000
We see an old scrapbook as the narrator recalls that the summer of 1903 was a special one for him and is still dear to his heart. Then the story begins and we meet young Jerry who lives on the farm with his tough but loving Granny. A newborn black lamb has been rejected by its mother and Jerry convinces Granny to let him raise it, against her better judgment. And even though Danny the lamb is a lot of trouble, Jerry still dreams of taking Danny to the County Fair.

This Disney tale of childhood innocence is very simple; there are no tragedies on the road to a happy ending, just an amazingly cute little boy and his ornery lamb. As Jerry, Bobby Driscoll didn't have to do anything for me to fall in love with him (although he's a very good actor!); ... Read More:

Fun And Fancy Free (Disney) [1948]

starring: Edgar Bergen, Dinah Shore, Charlie McCarthy, Mortimer Snerd, Luana Patten
directed by: Bill Roberts, Hamilton Luske, Jack Kinney, William Morgan

Release Date July 03, 2000
I have loved the Mickey and the Beanstalk film since I was 3 and I still love watching it (I'm 18!). It's one of the classics that I believe is underrated. The drawings and paint are stunning and the humour is there aswell (I absolutely love Herman, the narrator and Willy the giant!).

Considering it's 60 years old, it's really a fantastic Disney film that should be in anyone's collection.
It's a good, old-fashioned tale that will keep children interested and yet, as it's only approx. 30 minutes long it's short enough so as to not make them bored.

Give them a classic, rather than the a mass-produced Pixar type film!
They don't make 'em like this any more!

Melody Time

starring: Roy Rogers, Trigger, Dennis Day, The Andrews Sisters, Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians
directed by: Clyde Geronimi, Hamilton Luske, Jack Kinney, Wilfred Jackson

Release Date July 03, 2000
this film from 1947 is not as well known as most other disney animated films. It was being produced as the second world war was coming to as close and because most of disney's profits were low due to audiences in europe being cut off and money being trapped in other countries disney didn't have the money to create the masterpieces such as Fantasia, Snow White or pinocchio which had gone before it. however the film is still enjoyable the seven segments are all set to popular music (well it was popular back in 1947) and features acts such as the andrews sitsters. The film shows that although disney didn't have a lot of money they could still entertain. Another reason why this dvd is so good is that it is completey unedited. In recent years many films from the 40's and 50's ... Read More:
