This is one of the best albums of all time. The vocals are perfect, and the music matches it brilliantly. It is one of those albums that you will never tire of, and the songs will remain in your music collection forever. I can guarantee you will be playing this in the car for months, non stop, or in your stereo. Ensure you have loud speakers, cause these songs are meant to be loud! Just perfect.

Not on this album. Def leppard's second album is a rock master class which they would sadly never repeat after following a far more poppy direction with following albums (however to be fair `Pyromania' and `Hysteria' are excellent albums in their own right).
On this album Def Leppard wear their influences on their sleeves, one can hear shades of many classic 70's rock bands such as Thin Lizzy, UFO, Scorpions and of course AC/DC, who as other reviewers have pointed out are of particular influence to the early Leppard sound. Def Leppard have even stolen AC/DC's producer Mutt Lange for this album. However I would have to say this is not the `AC/DC tribute album' others have accused it of being as `High `N' Dry' is more polished sounding ... Read More:

It's hard to describe why this is not great, but i am going to try as it seems to be a rule on Amazon to only review items you like. I have a copy of Slang, which I like, and i thought i would go back to the beginning and work through the albums in chronological order (which works for me normally) but after this, i won't be bothering with the rest. It's just not very good.
Release Date March 23, 1992
Let's be honest...this is never a "great" album. It's ok, and there is no shortage of hooks, but the lyrics are so bad they really put you off. Come on - "She's personal property", "make love like a man, i'm a man" - for christ's sake. At least AC/DC can do misogny/lewdness with humour or tongue in cheek as well as better tunes. That said there are a couple of good tracks on here - White Lighting, Tonight, Tear it Down. Worth a listen but please, it's not a great album.
Release Date January 25, 1994
This is by far the best album Def Leppard have released - only it isn't an album; it's a collection of B sides and nearlys. Some great non-traditional Def Leppard tracks like Desert Song and Fractured Love as well as some good old rock tracks like Ride into the Sun and Ring of Fire. There's also a storming cover of an old sweet song - Action - and was released as a single. Ballads are not missing, buut don't be surprised to hear Miss You in a Heartbeat no less than three times on the album! I can't wait till the next B-side collection!
Release Date May 22, 2006
Def Leppard doing covers??? whatever next is this the swan song era now? No, definetley not! These covers aren't covers, they are recreations. In fact quite a few are better than the original - which is some compliment. Well done guys on pulling this off, as it could have been a complete disaster!
Release Date April 21, 2008
It's strange to see how split opinions are on this album but I'm sure David Coverdale would rather elicit strong views either way than just have everyone say "Yes, it's okay I suppose".
Personally I wasn't overly impressed when I first played it. In fact I was very disappointed. However, as Whitesnake played such an important role in my musical development I persevered for a couple more listens and boy am I glad I did. While it is not perfect, it is still a very strong addition to the catalogue. I'd advise those of you who binned it earlier to revisit it and you might just realise that you made a mistake.
Release Date August 12, 2002
I'm too young to appreciate what Def Leppard used to be like but I'm old enough to know what constitutes a good album. The only other Def Leppard albums I own are Vault and Best Of, which are effectively the same album. With this in mind, X is the only proper studio album I own by Def Leppard so I can't compare it to their previous albums. But I can compare it to the hundreds of other albums in my collection and I will simply say that this album is excellent.
It's very inoffensive radio-friendly rock which might not be very edgy but prevails with some truly fantastic sing-along choruses. The vocals are particularly strong and having heard some of Def Leppard's older tracks on my compilations I think his voice has improved. My favourite track ... Read More:

'slang' was a step in the wrong direction for many def leppard fans but to me it was a step into the future, since this album failed in chat success the leps have returned again to there roots a bit more, i love this album, for me i thought they wrote an album ahead of there time, this album shows how they have progresed. 'slang' the single for me was a 'pour some sugar on me' for the 90s, def leppard have never been a cool band to like, alot of people would class them as a really cheesy band, but this album has no cheese whatsoever, its a proper modern rock album, they havent tryed to sound like anyone there, i would have liked to have seen def lepard stick with this style a bit more, loads of samples and the production is just right, it isent over produced like alot ...
