After their slightly patchy debut album and a change in personel, Anthrax's secnd album is undeniably a classic of the thrash genre. Most fans will point to 'Among the Living' as the band's defining moment, but it's really hard to find any fault with this 1985 offering, as from the opening moments of 'A.I.R.' the album spews out a seemingly endless collection of killer riffs, while new vocalist Joe Bellandonna's melodic vocals provide numerous catchy choruses. 'Spreading the Disease' ranges from such relatively melodic songs as the insanely catchy 'Medusa' and 'Lone Justice', which at times sounds almost Iron Maiden-ish, to the full on thrash of tracks like 'Gung-Ho' and 'Aftershock'. The band themselves have at times stated a despair at being ... Read More:

Genre defining? Slightly irrelevant now like all 80's "Thrash" reviews (I know this is a 1990 release) Metallica, Megadeth, testament, Exodus, Atheist, fook the name dropping this album rocks, it is great I love it, if you do too, then fookin A! Joey realises his vocal apex, (no Warblin).
Interesting riffs, quite progressive (only because the tracks are more then 5 minutes long)
Try it, if you don't like it, it should have only cost you a fiver so sell it a a boot fair.

If you are looking to buy your first megadeth album then look no further the album has killer written all over it. Megadeth second album and it's a huge step up from Killing Is My Business. The vocals, solos, riffs, dumming everything has improved so much. No best they all rock and i dont see why people dont like I aint superstitious sure it doesnt go with the album but it still rocks. This is a must have in every thrash metal/Metal fans collection. Ignore any negative comment and buy without hesitation. Dave Mustaine You rock.

I'm not much given to hyperbole and "ace" is not a word I've used much since I was 14, twenty years ago, but then I haven't enjoyed an album this much since 1988 either. Certainly not one by Metallica. Death Magnetic, however, is just...ace.

Well megadeth are one of my favourite bands though i wouldnt say this is their best cause i prefer Peace Sells and Youthanasia but it is a masterpiece the best songs are the classic Holy Wars, Hanger 18, Take No Prisoner, Tornado Of Souls & Rust In peace. The music is so technical the riffs are brilliant the solos are amazing the lyrics are great daves vocals may not be at his best but still awesome. If you're starting to get into megadeth buy this with Peace Sells But Whos Buying. Their both thrash metal Masterpieces

if u only ever buy one metal album with truth justice and insanely wicked new guitars riffs, screaming between the east and atonality, this is the one. this album IS history in the making
Release Date February 26, 2008
This is one of the most savage, intense thrash/death metal albums ever recorded. Like a hateful, twisted version of 'Reign in Blood'-era Slayer, this record is also notable for having been a big influence on early Sepultura records like 'Schizophrenia' and 'Beneath the Remains'. The vocals are vicious, feral barks of raw power, the guitars buzz and grate like the fires of hell and the drums are frenetic and thunderous. The production isn't great, but in a funny sort of way this enhances the music, as it makes it more raw and aggressive sounding. Buy this now if you are a fan of Slayer, old-style Sepultura or Morbid Angel, and get headbanging to some vintage ferocious German thrash!!

Not one of Megadeth's best albums, neither is it all that bad, in fact it's pretty good. The album is best described as frantic and chaotic, perhaps a little cynical and a tad juvenile in tone compared to other Megadeth albums.
This album shines in songs such as "In My Darkest Hour", which was inspired by the death of Cliff Burton (Metallica), it is a dynamic song with plenty of tempo and mood changes.
Another good track is "Mary Jane", written about a girl of the same name who suffered from a mental illness and was burned at the stake during the infamous Salem witch trials.
The album also features a good cover of Sex Pistols' song "Anarchy In The UK", albeit with some incorrect lyrics but despite this, for me as a metalhead, it's a huge improvement over the ... Read More:
