'moving through time' is one of the most beautiful pieces of music i've ever heard... worth paying £7 for. you also get 'sycamore trees' from the last episode of the series and the off-the-wall hip hop of 'a real indication'. a brilliant soundtrack.

I first watched this as a teenager in the early 90s and found it utterly capitvating. It was the thing to watch at school and I bought the box set to relive the moments. I haven't got round to watching it yet but I don't think I'll be dissapointed. Hopefully I might figure a bit more of the story out because it was definitely surreal...I saw the film and that was even stranger...

This is the first: in this world it will always be the blond leading the blind. TWIN PEAKS is a case study of great creativity getting gummed up by meddling TV executives and accountants taking more important decisions than directors. After a phenomenal first season, (against David Lynch's wishes) Laura Palmer's murder got solved in mid second season, effectively killing the impetus of the show. What was left, was a show that was too slow in finding a new direction, decelerating into vapid style and enjoying a huge cult following that is still going strong. I should know; I am a huge fan since the first time I laid eyes on Snoqualmie Falls.

Floating Into the Night

When Angelo Badalamenti was scoring "Blue Velvet" for David Lynch he wanted to use This Mortal Coils, version of Tim Buckley,s "Song To The Siren for a key scene in the film. Great idea, except the song rights proved way too expensive, so it was suggested that Badalamenti compose a song in the same style with Lynch providing the lyrics. Badalamenti also wanted a vocalist who could mirror Liz Fraser,s powerful haunting performance and remembered Julee Cruise who had sung in a New York theatre production that Badalamenti had overseen. The result of this was the ethereal siren song "Mysteries Of Love" which figured prominently in "Blue Velvet"

This is most certainly a departure from the Twin Peaks TV series. Shot in a more distinctively Lynchian style with greater use of sound design and lighting effects the overall atmosphere is one of menace and nihilism. Those who appreciated the humorous touches and points of mysticism in the TV series will probably find the films brutal schizophrenic approach to the subject matter disturbing. Laura Palmer is a far more sympathetic and human character in this film than in the TV series where her story is told by others and a general sense of enigma is propagated regarding her status and the reasons behind her death. Mulholland Drive (Badalmente)

This has twangs of previous Badalamenti work from Blue Velvet to Twin Peaks, from mysterious elongated chords from the score to quirky songs. Also a key ingredient: an awesome vocal by Rebekah Del Rio, as Julee Cruse was for Twin Peaks.

Twin Peaks Complete Season 2 - 6 Disc Boxset DVD

If you live in the UK and want to get Twin Peaks Season 2 Region 2, I'd recommend that you get this.

Like some of the other reviewers here, I was getting pretty sick of waiting for a UK release of Season 2 Region 2, which looked ever more unlikely as time went on.

This boxed set is a perfectly adequate alternative, as only the packaging is in Dutch, and the most set-up you need to do is pick "English" upon playing the DVD.

It's nicely presented in a similar manner to the Season 1 boxed set as well.

What is there to say about the best film of the 1980's. This film is a modern day fairy tale, a surreal crime thriller and certainly one of Lynch's best and most rated films.

I just want to leave a note about the DVD, similar to what others have said, avoid the Prism Production of this, bad video, bad sound and ugly looking. Instead stretch yourself a few more £'s with the recently restored Sanctuary copy with bonus disk...

Prepare yourself for the voyeuristic journey, in this strange world.

jeez, this is a scarey film! ok its not hostal, but its a paranoid, nightmarish fantasy, and i suggest you dont watch it with a hangover. if anyone said to you..'there was this scene with a paranoid girl walking towards a cabin, and a guy with a red lightbulb stuck in his mouth came out from behind a tree, and she got a bit freaked and ran away, via a tree stump where she picked up a rather large screwdriver...'you would just think..david lynch. its mad, it doesnt make any sense, its really horrible, its long..but, god, its cinematic heaven.
you either get lynch or you dont..
if you dont, then this is literally a nighmare..
if you do..its a brilliant, stunning piece of film with amazingly memorable scenes, but still a nightmare...

Wild At Heart (Reissue)

I actually prefer the soundtrack to Wild at Heart over the film itself at the moment (felt it went on a bit last time I watched it). These 15 tracks are a typically eclectic selection and rank next to the soundtracks to Twin Peaks, Lost Highway & Mulholland Drive.

It opens on an excerpt from Strauss' Im Abendrot- which accompanied the credit sequence- though the track it cut to in the film is absent (In the Mood by Glen Miller). This and several other tracks are not included here- whether due to space constraints or licensing problems I don't know (other absent songs- First Movement by Duke Ellington, Chrysanthemum by Shony Alex Braun, Buried Alive by Billy Swan, Streamline by John Ewing, Far Away Chant by African Head Charge, Kosmoginia by Kryztof Penderecki & Boomada by Les Baxter).
