What a let down! I bought this for Nessum Dorma and found that the cupboard of his repertoire is actually pretty bare. Other than "Just one Cornetto" there aren't any big hits on this album. Surely they could have included the 1975 classic "everyone's a fruit and nut case"? More importantly, none of it is in english so i've no idea what he's on about.
That said, this guy can sing, proving, like Michelle McManus before him that being obese is no barrier if you have a decent voice. With the right material this guy could have a big career ahead of him. Maybe he should enter X-Factor, Simon Cowell could make him a big star.

If you like great music and admire a truly unique vocal talent then this is for you.
Covering many standard opera arias and his native neopolitan songs, hard to imagine how this album could be bettered.
The 'voice' is in thrilling form - never more so than in track 9 which is breathtakingly awesome in it's power.
Add to that the warmth and brilliance he brings to all the other tracks and you get to hear every aspect of the voice which has probably done more than any other to bring opera to the masses
Rock on Pav you really are the man!

This 1990 World Cup concert, which launched the Three Tenors phenomenon, has a beautiful open air setting at the Caracalla Baths in Rome. This means however, a loss of acoustics. Orchestral sounds that would be enriched by a little reverberation literally drift away on the evening breeze. But the singing is excellent. They sing 4 solos each, then - after a sinfonia, or orchestral interlude - 3 more as a trio; 16 tracks in all. All three singers are perfectly at ease in the Romance languages, but struggle with German and English, sometimes quite badly. In the worst example, 'Maria' from West Side Story, Pavarotti bellows, "Say it soft and it's almost like praying". Well, we'll have to take his word for it.

The Three Tenors are on top form here with all their usual pomp. Cantique de Noel as the opening carol is perfect. Few carols are as reverently uplifting and this sets the tone perfectly. The CD provides a lovely contrast to the more well known popular Christmas song collections and adds a sparkle to the decorations when listening.

Wonderful concert. The songs and singing arrangements just get better and better as the concert goes along. The concert was attended by such well-known people as Ex Pres Bush, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Arnold Schna....,Gene Kelly. Concert was in LA and a lot of "american" favorites (such a musical from movies) were selected, some to honor the crowd such as "Singing in the Rain" and "My Way". Received 3 curtain calls. Pavarotti's Ava Maria inspired the crowd to stand up cheer. Same for his Nessun Dorma! Orchestra LA Philharmonic also was featured playing some pieces with just the orchestra. Excellent, wonderful music.

I have this CD on constant repeat! The music is so varied but holds your attention every step of the way. Bocelli's voice is one you just have to fall in love with. His "Romanza" is 1 of my favourites but "Vivo Per Lei" has me hooked also. GET THIS CD!!!!!!
This 2007 single CD release is a compilation of opera's best known arias performed by one of our generations most popular and successful tenors.
None of the recordings are particularly new, ranging from the 1973 version of 'Nessun Dorma' (long before the Three Tenors era) to slightly newer releases like the 1989 'Live like Horses' duet with Elton John.
In between these two are all the favourites like Verdi's 'Brindisi' and 'La Donna e Mobile', and of course Lara's 'Granada'.
Whether this is, or if in fact any 1 CD of just one hour of music could be, the ultimate Pavarotti collection I'm not certain, for there are several other such titled releases available (most notable being Decca's 2 disc compilation which guests ... Read More:

I am not really a classical music buff, but with my father in law being one its an obvious choice for presents. knowing that he likes the 3 tenors is a big help seeing as i do not really know much at all about classical music apart form the odd few bits world cup and films. I bought this disc for his birthday not really relishing the thought of hearing it, however I was pleasently supprised indeed. This was very easy on the ears indeed and shock horror on the whole i enjoyed cd there was the odd one i was not that overly keen on not to sure which one it was called i think it was track 4 Sous le ciel de Paris. By comparrison you'll never walk alone i thought was very enjoyable along with nessumdora the world cup anthum from a few years back now. Untill listening to ... Read More:

The tracks on this cd are excellent and well worth the money. I get worried about the packaging of this sort of disc though because it reminds me of Tesco's attempt to sell wine to the masses by renaming a mediocre chablis as 'Good with meat' or whatever. If this was called 'Fine Opera' or 'An Opera Sampler' then I'd be a lot happier but the dumb approach of 'The Only Opera Album You'll Ever Need' makes me cringe. Once again though: the music is very good and the performances are excellent on the whole.

"the world's three most famous tenors" the description says and famous they are, but one shines above the rest and watching this performance I think he knew he was the best. It will be a long time before we see another performance such as this, if ever, and I think Pavarotti has the most natural tenor voice of them all. This DVD is a wonderful record of the definitive three tenors concert and the sound quality is superb.Who cares if there is a bonus disc with a karaoke version of 'O sole mio, who would want to listen to that when the maestro is there to sing it for you?
This DVD is a must, for the rest I prefer to just hear his beautiful voice on CD.
