Mendes's "Fool on the Hill" was one of the first albums that this then fifteen-year-old bought with his allowance. Thus began an almost forty-year love affair with the Brazilian's sound. One can't imagine my excitement when I learned of the release of "Timeless," his first album of new music in over a decade.

And what an album it is!!! The disc is an outstanding blend of the old and the new, with cuts to satisfy the contemporary crowd as well as those of us with nostalgia of the soul.

I cannot add any more superlatives to the ones that have already been given to this Grammy-winning album. It is a release that never falters; every cut is worthy of inclusion.

Being a forty-year fan of Sergio Mendes has given me a slightly bent bias toward him and everything that he has done. The current crop of popular Latin artists needs to give credit to this trailblazer and master musician.

I'm glad that new musicians, like Will.i.am are discovering Mendes's sound and bringing him again to the masses.

Bossa Nova - Jazz Masters 53

This music album was made in 1963 and it's totally timeless and as fresh in 2008 as when it was first made. I'm 43 and my dad is 70. My 8 year old son and all of us can't get enough of this. Getz's Chega De Saudade (One note samba) is totally the best jazz funk ever and all the other melodies are totally gold as well. You can buy this for yourslef or as a gift for a friend and it's totally priceless - worth a 100 times it's weight in gold. Enjoy!!!!

The Very Best Of Sergio Mendes And Brasil '66

If you are not so sure about Bossa Nova music, then I can recommend this album for the Ice Cool versions it present of Mas Que Nada, Wichita Lineman, the Beatles songs and especially Scarborough Fair. They are stunning!

Great stuff, instant sunshine, I love it. Timeless was fun and interesting but it was just a taster for this which really mixes up the old and new to create something special. I'm so glad it has proved popular and brought SM back to the fore again. Don't think you are being shortchanged by having 2 versions of 2 songs, they are quite different and well worth inclusion. Waters of March is a fascinating song and now here we have it in French too. No idea what they are talking about but it sounds great. There is such a lot going on in some of the tracks with all those weird Brazilian instruments being hit and blown and rattled. Fabulous Flamenco

i have just recieved this cd and it is wonderful. for the price it is a bargain not to be missed. it is full of life and passion and everything you would expect of true flamenco music. it doesnt matter if this is your first introduction to flamenco or you are a seasoned fan, you will enjoy this album.

The Best Of The Mamas And The Papas

Listening to the Mammas and the Papas was a real nostalgia trip but how I hate CD's with tracks that fade out before they finish, it totally spoils the experience. I have a vision of a man behind the stage at a live performance turning a big volume control down leaving the group playing and singing silently to a bemused audience. Had the tracks all been full length I would have given this CD 4 stars.
