anyone who has a titter of wit will feel indifference towards streisand the political agitator, the mouthpiece, the drama queen, the egotist.

but few can have anything but respect for streisand the artist.

each song in this album is a little gem, with streisand the perfectionist cutting each jewel of a track till it shines.

1. "come tomorrow" - a country-tinged disco duet with barry gibb, simply arranged and beautifully sung
2. "stranger in a strange land" - soft and romantic and crafted for the streisand voice
3. "hideaway" - one of the album's highlights. deceptively simple, but with a gorgeous saxophone solo at 2:28

Ilove this cd as much as I loved the movie. It is one of my best loved films and I am so happy to have the soundtrack on CD.

Duets

When the double-CD Essential was released a few months before this, I was disappointed that some great duets were missing, although all the important solo tracks were included. I was therefore particularly pleased to be able to buy this collection. All the duets that were included on Essential - You don't bring me flowers, No more tears, Guilty, Tell him and I finally found someone - are reprised here, but they couldn't have been omitted from either, being among Barbra's biggest hits.

Two newly recorded songs - I won't be the one to let go and All I know of love - bookend this collection, no doubt included to ensure that Barbra's most fanatical supporters need this.

Love Songs

This CD is an excellent introduction to what Barbra Streisand does best. It does not contain her early 60s and 70s work, nor does it contain the passionate and playful Guilty-period scores. It is rather a masterfully put together collection of ballads that, coupled with her timeless voice, would move even those few ardent critics of her work.

Ms Streisand has released many best-of's, and any further addition does raise suspicion as a possible quick way to make money. This collection, however, is beyond reproach, and even a devoted Streisand fan will probably find a song not in their collection. Greatest Hits... and More: A Collection

This first greatest hits package by Streisand was fine in its day, late 60's early 70's, but songs like Sam, You Made The Pants Too Long are irritating now. Streisand was very young making all these recordings, and her later mature vocals sound much better. Classics on here of course, the timeless People, Don't Rain On My Parade, Happy Days Are Here Again; but all these and plenty more are on the excellent Essential Barbra Streisand, a much more worthwhile purchase, especially if its going to be a first purchase of her music.

The Jazz Singer: Original Soundtrack

Not as enduring or magical as the soundtrack for Jonathan Livingston Seagull, but then again this is a completely different type of film that he was composing for. JLS was more of a spiritual journey which was perfectly complimented in the music, whilst Jazz Singer is more of a commercial movie of a "Boy Done Good" scenario.

Personally, I preferred the songs on JLS, or should I say his genre of music, less anthemic, which probably isn't a word, and more beautifully crafted. However you can't argue with success, and there have been enough hits pulled off this album to back up any argument against it. Live in Concert 2006

I went to see Barbra in manchester waited a life time to see her and i wasn't disapointed, it made me smile and cry at the same time, i am in shock that i was fortunate to take part in this once in a life time event.
All the songs were just as i imagined a mix of new and old just beautiful. 'Unusual way' just stunning as was 'Somewhere'.
The cd is played constanly will have to buy a spare...
I am just really hopeing that the dvd will come out soon so i can keep the memories going Thankyou Barbra you are a true star! ( dvd please)..

A Star Is Born is an exellent film I got it on DVD on Christmas day exactly 30 years after its realese.The acting is great Streisand shines as the singer and the musical numbers are absoultley fantastic the hairs stand up on the back of my neck every time!.Kris Kristoffersen does a great job playing a rock star on his dimise.The DVD has some great extras such as commentary by Barbra Streisand,Wardrobe tests and deleted scenes it's definetly worth the watch so Watch Closley Now this Evergreen film shines 30 years on!!!

Home Before Dark

I know Mr Diamond lets do another album together, says Mr Rubin and like the last one strip it back and bore everyone to death.

Dull, dull and dull. What are you all talking about i was asleep quicker this time than last time. Even live he tries to liven them up a bit.

I have seen Neil Diamond live many times and own all his albums including this one JUST BECAUSE YOU FEEL YOU HAVE TOO. Please bring back the old Neil Diamond maybe not the Heartlight one but the Forever in Blue Jeans one would be nice.
