I know Mr Diamond lets do another album together, says Mr Rubin and like the last one strip it back and bore everyone to death.

Dull, dull and dull. What are you all talking about i was asleep quicker this time than last time. Even live he tries to liven them up a bit.

I have seen Neil Diamond live many times and own all his albums including this one JUST BECAUSE YOU FEEL YOU HAVE TOO. Please bring back the old Neil Diamond maybe not the Heartlight one but the Forever in Blue Jeans one would be nice.

As per most of the other reviews of this CD it's a good compilation, for a ridiculously cheap price, however i really only bought this CD for "Solitary Man" and "Girl, you'll be a woman soon". Sadly both tracks are taken from the Live album "Hot August Night", though this is not indicated by the usual "(Live)" on the track listing. So be warned, if you want studio versions of these or "Kentucky woman" which is taken from the album "Gold-Live" look elsewhere.

The Jazz Singer: Original Soundtrack

Not as enduring or magical as the soundtrack for Jonathan Livingston Seagull, but then again this is a completely different type of film that he was composing for. JLS was more of a spiritual journey which was perfectly complimented in the music, whilst Jazz Singer is more of a commercial movie of a "Boy Done Good" scenario.

Personally, I preferred the songs on JLS, or should I say his genre of music, less anthemic, which probably isn't a word, and more beautifully crafted. However you can't argue with success, and there have been enough hits pulled off this album to back up any argument against it. The Essential Neil Diamond

You've probably dismissed Diamond as music your mum listens to. You're wrong to think this because you'll be missing some great pompous rock songs. Some of it's cheesy, but a lot of what is on this best of is genuinely good stuff.

His name looks like an anomaly on my MP3 player's artist list. The thing is, I'm not ashamed as I love these big over the top (orchestra included on everything) songs. And you don't have to worry about good taste getting in the way of your listening experience.

Some of these songs even rock in their own way. Though it's best to skip the Streisand duet. And Brooklyn Road and Morningside don't stand up after a few listens. Otherwise it's great. And the live tracks are very energetic - I personally ... Read More:

I wish I had read the reviews for this compilation before I bought it. I was looking for a best-of compilation of the original studio songs. When I played the first disc, I discovered a series of live performance recordings and some re-recordings - most of which are just not as good as the original songs; a couple are just horrible. If you like live performances then you may enjoy these, but beware these are not all the original songs.

Home Before Dark what can I say about this great album! Pure Neil, pure magic, can't stop playing it. I have loved his music since Solitary ManThe Essential Greatest Hits Collection, but I wondered how this would compare to those early hits. Having adored Three Chord OperaThree Chord Opera I was hoping I for a great album and of course was not disappointed. Each track very different, each telling a story we can all relate to. above all it reaches the soul as does all his music. Keep writing Neil, I love your music!!

Ultimate Collection

The Carpenters are surely one of those romantic must haves in your record collection? If you want to buy a really good comprehensive collection of songs by the Carpenters on one CD, this one makes a bucket load of sense. Kind of hush, Interplanetary Craft, Solitaire, Yesterday once more,Close to you, Jambalaya and many more, they are all here. The Carpenters were always lovely to listen to, and won many fans at the time and later. The fact that they were so prolific too, was amazing. Most of the songs here were played to death and were often high up in the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. The fact that so many good ones are on here makes this album well worth buying.

Piano Man: the Very Best of Billy Joel

this CD is really just another example of the music companies trying to fleece us the poor consumer. whilst the music of Billy Joel is superb in any format this best of is just a rehash of his Essential collection.

unless you have a burning desire to own Scenes from an Italian Resteraunt and Only the Good Die young then i would seriously recommend 'The Essential Billy Joel' 36 tracks in all and 16 of them which you get on this album.

Let me say from the beginning that I am no Neil Diamond fan. Sure I love his voice and he has written some great music in the past but.. too often its all a little "Barry Manilow" for me.

This album is the exception and a total revelation. Raw, gritty and emotional, it has a depth and substance that we are not used to seeing from the artist.

A real slow burn.

This latest TV advertised set has 20 tracks from the America's first soul group. All the original 50's well known songs are included, except for "You'll Never, Never Know (I Care)". Have they included "You'll Never Know", which is a different tune entirely, by mistake ? However, it's the oddities that make this compilation so intriguing. If you buy the album for Tony Williams smooth lead vocals, you will not be disappointed by the hits and versions of standards like "September In The Rain" and you might even be pleasantly surprised by rare tracks like "I Don't Know Why", presumably with Zola Taylor on lead. Is it a different male lead on "Temptation" and "You've Changed" ? Nevertheless, they are fine cuts. I would have preferred if the version of "Crying In The Chapel" had been ... Read More:
