I would not say the other reviewer is much of a prodigy fan if he cant hear the difference in the remastering ! sounds better than ever, and although some of the bonus remixes / additional tracks are not up to the prodigy polished touch - the ruff in the jungle and weather experience remixes more than make up for it. An excellent introduction to early 90s 'dance' music.

Okay it certainly isn't Fat of the Land, but not being a long-time follower of Prodigy I have a different perspective.

I'd describe this as a mixture of Orbital and Daft Punk. Spitfire could get away with sneaking onto the Fat of the Land album, but only just.

Apart from Shoot Down, which felt similar to Climbatize in it's relaxing 'spiritual' sound which is well suited to closing an album, I didn't feel any sense of cohesion, some great tracks suitable for single use on the MP3 player.

This album is amazing. Every single track is great to listen to. I am a great lover of Pendulum but the Prodigy blew my mind.

Rage Against the Machine

This is most definately an album that deserves at least 3 listenings to from everyone who says they like listening to music because it is very very very good.

The opening title track 'Bombtrack' is a perfect track to listen to to understand this album because it is almost like a round up of everything to come in the rest of the album. Driving guitar riffs and licks (yes licks) from Morello and angsty hip lyrics from Zach. In fact the only thing it really doesn't convey about the album is quite the intricate brilliance of Morello's soloing ability and guitar playing. Experience: Expanded Remixes and B-Sides [Us Import]

There was a sticker on the front of the case that said these were remastered recordings.. well the last track on disc one sounds awful, its really bad sound quality. Its good that theyve put the extra disc in and all, but there are recordings here that sound a lot worse than the ones on the single disc edition of the Prodigy Experience.

The problem is, I had already heard the fantastic "Brainfreeze" and "Product Placement" by DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist, not to mention a couple of DJ Yoda's "How to Cut & Paste" albums.

Those guys really know how to mix their records - Liam Howlett doesn't.

The scratching is nothing special and the blending (and choice) of tracks at times seems random. There are some good moments in the first two CD tracks, but that's largely due to the songs themselves and little to do with the mixing. The rest of the album is very mediocre.

In Silico

Let me start by saying that I have never been a fan of any form of dance music: in any way whatsoever!
I saw these guys perform Granite live on Jools Holland, and they blew me away though. I genuinely believed them to be a guitar driven rock band: so to discover that they are D&B is quite a suprise.
That said, I bought this album to find out how good their other stuff was, and it did not disappoint! Thunderous guitar riffs fused with heavy electronica, and synth fed voices create a wall of sound against a backdrop of Metallica style drums.
I invested in their first album "Hold Your Colour" too: and even though this is very much a D&B album, you can clearly discern the direction that their music is going in.

Hold Your Colour

This is more of a warning than a review. Basically, every track on the album has two seconds of silence at the end, including the first track "Prelude" which should seamlessly merge into "Slam". Other than this one instance it isn't that annoying, but if that kind of thing would irritate you, you may be better off looking for the original version of the album, which was mixed properly: Hold Your Colour

If you are looking to put the album on a computer or portable media player (iPod, etc.) there are workarounds for this. Once you have bought and ripped the album to your computer, either download a replacement copy of "Prelude" from the original, or edit the track yourself using a program like Audacity.
