I fell in love with this movie when it first opened in theaters and I loved all the music in it, including the score, and particularly the bit where Colin Firth proposes to Aurelia. But when I bought the CD here in the US, all it had what the popular pop stuff! (I guess they figured Americans wouldn't appreciate the beautiful instrumental music? Probably right actually.) You guys in the UK got the whole deal. It will be well worth the overseas shipping!!

An excellent soundtrack to an excellent movie. It just makes you want to get up and dance, to cry at other times, but most definitely to reach for you DVD almost everytime you hear it!

Worth buying for Lena Fiagbe's gorgeous piano and vocal take on Can't Smile without You. It's the only place i could find it!

I have a confession to make: I didn't really enjoy Pretty Woman that much, and Four Weddings and a Funeral (not to mention Mickey Blue Eyes, Two Weeks Notice and About a Boy) didn't really do it for me.
However, in Notting Hill, as far as I am concerned, everything comes together for Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, delivering a landmark in the gentle countryside of romantic comedy.
This is not the only time that Julia Roberts plays a version of herself -- she knowingly sends herself up in Ocean's Twelve. And this is not the only time Hugh Grant has played this particular character -- heck, it's the good-natured but over-witty English fopp he always plays. But the pairing of these two well-honed characters is exactly ... Read More:

Y'know, soundtracks are always just cashing in on a movie, and are usually just a few tracks thrown together at minimal cost. However.......this collection really works! It has a great cross-section of mainly glossy, upbeat mainstream tracks, with a ballad or two thrown in, that provide not only the soundtrack to the movie, but also the soundtrack to that period in time. Favourites for this 80's boy were Go West, Jane Wiedlin, and Roy Orbison. Great soundtrack, great compilation of its time.

This is a pretty predictable soundtrack for Bridget Jones 2, mixing the usual smoothie suspects (Barry White, 10cc, Carly Simon) with contemporary chart toppers (Jamelia, Kylie Minogue, Beyonce). And yet there are some spectacular new recordings, in particular Amy Winehouse's superb, emotive cover of "Will you still love me tomorrow" - something to savour amidst the absence of any new material from her. Rufus Wainwright sings one of his mother's songs beautifully (although Dido sounds like she's reading out a menu in her self-conscious solo). And with "Misunderstood" Robbie Williams provides a surprisingly good confessional ("Trying to be misunderstood / Just a product of my childhood..."). These three tunes lend the soundtrack an authenticity ... Read More:

I thought the movie was brilliant but this cd just finishes it off completely. It is absoloutely brilliant. There are no words to describe it but at least I gave it a shot.
Release Date March 19, 2004
Although it doesn't quite work, it's definitely worth watching. Some great performances. Could have cut a few of the stories out completely though. Should have focused on Colin Firth, Emma Thompson and Hugh Grant. The rest weren't really worth it although the Laura Linney storyline was moving. I cried a little and laughed a little, and I guess it kept me more engaged than most films I see.
Actually, the absolute best thing about this film is Lynden David Hall singing at the wedding at the beginning. He died a couple of years ago and it was a shock - but a beautiful one - to see him in the film, I had no idea! Beautiful man with a beautiful voice. RIP.

A timeless album... I bought it for the song by Sarah McLachlan (Angel) and it was worth it for that one track which is so beautiful that it never fails to make me stop and stare. The rest of the album follows suit, particularly Peter Gabriel (I Grieve). If you like music to think to, this is for you.
