I was still quite young when the disco craze hit the world, certainly way too young to enjoy what was going on in nightclubs, not too young to enjoy the music though!
My favourites at the time were undoubtedly this band. I recall dancing to all the hits at school disco's and once at a very magical evening trip to a local ice rink disco, with the youth club. But as well as stirring memories of the the late 70's and early 80's revisiting these tracks creates thoughts of just how stylisticly variable, vocally accomplished and downright excellent this band was! The Best Of The Stylistics

Ive been a steward at the North Wales Theatre at Llandudno for over five years and have seen the Stylistics on four occasions and they are still one of the most professional and harmonious soul coloured groups in the business.
I have also met them in person and was very impressed with their willingness to sign their cds this one included and pose for photographs and also have a chat with admiring fans.Some people ive met not saying any names are the direct opposite of their stage personality but the Stylistics are really pleasant guys.

Their music on the other hand is superb with gorgeous harmonies not dissimilar to the BeeGees but very Motown Soul.

The Very Best Of

The Real Thing played live at my daughter's recent wedding. Although she arrived to Jeremiah Clarke's Trumpet Voluntary, "Can't Get By Without You" now seems to be her wedding song ! Guests still can't stop talking about them. They were stupendous. Guests of all ages were up on the dance floor, dancing the night away. What an experience ! I remember them from years back in Liverpool when they were The Chants. They are favourites with listeners to Smooth FM - not surprising as they are pure talent. Anyone who likes Four Tops, Billy Ocean, Lionel Ritchie and the like will enjoy this CD.

You want a mix of funk and soul from top names from Motown? Here's the pitch, the O'Jays were on the top of their music and benfited from top writors of the 70's. Sold to soul, righton brother! So they might have said on their day. Note the lack of expletives.

I'm not saying this is a bad cd, but the track listing here is nothing like correct. I was very disappointed in some of the ommisions. I would ask for a refund really but at the budget price I can't be bothered but buyer beware.

and hit the floor and the charts with "boogie nights"
This is a best of album and has many more club tracks that remained album tracks only, nevertheless still have that rod temperton Quality about them, Who went on to be one of the most prolific writers of all time for michael Jackson.
Lend an ear to the last track "big guns" an infectious piece of jazz-funk that I cant stop playing!!

There's no doubting the quality of the material on this best of EWF. Fantasy,Let groove,Boogie wonderland,After the love has gone..all the big hits are here,yet this album is missing loads more classic EWF songs that could have made this a 5 star album..i only knocked a star off coz of the glaring ommisions on this. Oddly, Shining star which was one of their biggest hits is stangely absent and what about Serpentine fire,Loves holiday,Loves magic,Lady sun,A song in my heart,Take it to the sky,You,Getaway,Something special and so on!! I hope one day someone will release an antology which will do the band justice. The Very Best Of Imagination

Contains all the Hits from this wonderfullt innovative band. They really did inspire the look of people such as Michael Jackson (Leee John in particular with his wonderful flamboyant style). For originality and flair that shaped a generation, in my view Imagination are right up there with Adam and the Ants and Spandau Ballet. They were also around at a time when such artists as Shannon (remember "Let The Music Play"?) and Fonda Rae. Thgis is a definite "must have" for anyone with a half-de4cent 80s collection!!

The Best of Detroit Spinners

I had forgotten just how many of the Detroit Spinners songs were hits or near hits in the UK. Obviously they are well known to Soul fans, and they were a long lasting and succesful Soul vocal group for many years - the reviewer below has summarised their history.

The production here is typical mid 70's Philly, and the excellence of the vocals, particularly Phillipe Wynns lead, shines through even when occasionally over produced. Stand out tracks "One Of A Kind" "Could It Be...." and my personal favourite "Love Don't Love Nobody".

As a summary of their post Motown output this is truly excellent, I recommend you also get their Motown compilation for "Its A Shame" and "I'll Be Around" and add to the IPod playlist for a complete ... Read More:
