Better than 'Born'. The quartet have reached new heights. The music will not appeal to everyone but it appeals to me. This album would be a good match to 'Bombay Jazz Palace' the music has the same mystical east undercurrents. Gone are the 'Hooked on Classics' mixes in are sitars and bongos.
I was quite hesitant at giving the album a full 5 Stars as I normally reserve that for Albums that have stood the test of time, but this is definitely a good one.

Come, on, you can hear the girls most of the time in this album, and for some reason some versions of highly strung, when played on some eualizers, do not play the sound of the violins/viola/cello, if you have a more recent version where this is corrected then the song has amazing solos when you can really hear the instruments! A great album overall.

some very good remixes of tracks taken from their first two albums ,including three entirely new works,overall some very different sounding tracks to the original versions,with a very heavy electronic bass emphasis,"shine" in particular stands out for me as the most outstanding track,perhaps this album will appeal more to the remix guros,and those familiar with clubland,and of course all bond fans like myself,if you fall into these categories i can assure you,you wont be dissapointed.

Explosive - The Best of Bond

Having read the other reviews, it must be me. However, after playing this CD a couple of times, I keep getting the feeling of "deja vu". All the tracks sound the same. Maybe with a decent rhythm section, they could make things more dynamic and different, but these so-called best recordings are far too samey.

I remember reading a brief article about Wild in The Sun about a year ago - it was basically saying that you should listen to them because they're 5 fit women who play music (which is true). So, me being me, I though nothing of it. Now, considering that at the start of the year I was coming towards the end of a heavy metal phase (I'm very open-minded when it comes to music, I listen to absolutely anything) classical music had only just started to interest me - I always saw it as something that your parents listened to. The Best of Vanessa Mae

I'm not against pop/classical albums and artists per se, because I quite like to hear some of the world's greatest tunes given a good roll-over, but Vanessa Mae's contributions to the genre have always seemed far too forced and mechanical.

She is undeniably a gifted and technically brilliant violinist, and she is shown at her best when letting rip on Bach's Toccata, I'm A-Doun, Storm and Devil's Trill. However, Vivaldi's Four Seasons is such an overworked piece and the two movements included here are coarse and lacking in any musical feeling, certainly nowhere near the league of Kennedy for ostentation or Vengerov for warmth. And I'm sorry but her own compositions (Destiny, Aurora, Solace) are so bland they could be TV test card music.

Explosive: Best of Bond [Us Import]

Had originally heard the title track to this album on a radio station a couple of years ago, but was driving in traffic at the time. It took a couple of days to find this album, then just had to have it.

Had never heard of Bond before (am I culturally deprived?), so cannot comment on their earlier releases, but this album knocked my socks off, so to speak. Then I played the DVD side (on the US version) for a close friend who sings and usually listens to female vocals. She was quite favorably impressed, and we ended up listening to the audio side of this double-sided DualDisc a few times. It became more enjoyable each time we heard it, the way we wish all albums were.

For months I had been waiting for some new kind of music to place on my ipod and I became bored of most mainstream chart music.

Blake is a breath of fresh air. Okay, so it is a bit operatic, but they are far better than Il Divo. My own personal favourites is their version of "Take My Breath Away", "Gladiator" and "Vide Cor Meum" (which is from the movie Hannibal). The songs that are sung in Italian are a treat, especially if you like to romance things up with your missus... I would say this is a great CD for Christmas as well.
