All the Right Reasons

I once saw an interview where Chad Kroeger said he asked fans what made How You Remind Me work. People said the chorus, the catchy riffs etc. So basically that's what the man cares about which disheartens me. I bought The Long Road and I really like Someday, but on every album they make 3 or 4 singles and the rest appears to be just filler, something to pad it out to called it an album. Hopefully Nickelback realise their sell out status and make music for the right reasons, as the album title misleads.

With Nickelback in the charts at the moment with their number 3 single Rockstar, many people that like rock will have heard of them. However, the album- The long road is completely different, the first track, Flat on the floor is extremely fast paced and much more intense than some of their later singles (How you remind me and Rockstar).

This album is more heavy rock and grunge than other things in the charts at the moment. This is great if you would like rock to take over the charts once again. Warning! This is not a ¡¥feel good¡¦ album- it contains subjects of dark matter. E.g.

The State

First off, The State is the second best album by Nickelback(slightly inferior to Curb). Worthy to say is definitely the best song here, I've tried but find it difficult to find comparisons for this song.
Not Leavin' Yet is great and can be compared to Where do I hide. Cowboy Hat also is a great song musically and lyrically, perhaps the best lyrically. (no comparisons have been found.) Leader of Men is the biggest hit and reminds me a great deal of Nirvana's Come as you are.
There is no one clear comparison for the state though perhaps the best is The Long Road

Dark Horse

The first time I listened to my Dark Horse download, it was with on the rubbish speakers of my lap top. I thought I had wasted my money and was disappointed big time, especially since I had just seen them at the 02. The whole album, despite the nature of some of the lyrics, sounded too sanitised and soft, not at all like NB. But then hearing it over a much better sound system, it was WOW. I haven't stopped listening to it yet. Get decent earphones for your Ipod / mp3 too.

Hybrid Theory

I first heard Linkin Park's `Crawling' on a Saturday morning music show- I had never heard anything like It. I'd never really been into music before, but the angst ridden, thundering chorus of this song really spoke to me. On the strength of the single alone I bought the album and - to my delight - loved it!

Even though the album and band where bourn for an era where short-lived Nu-metal ruled the world, after which many bands failed to move on from the sound which popularized them and subsequently where soon defunct, linkin park have survived and have since built on the solid foundation of Hybrid Theory, pursuing various sounds and becoming one of the only successful bands to meld together rap and metal.

Meteora

A few years ago I remember buying this and thinking it was a really good album and it is a very good album, it has great lyrics, good riffs, and great songs and that's all you need. My favourite songs are "Somewhere I Belong", "Faint", "Figure .09", "Breaking The Habit" & Numb". I don't mind what genre they are in they are a good band (if you forget about there new album), they are much better then Korn & Limp Bizkit and have much more talent, but still it was obviously never gonna be as good as Megadeth's So Far So Good So What! or Black Sabbath self titled debut but those are totally different genres and my own opinion. So overall this is an excellent album recommended for Linkin Park fans and fans of rap metal.

Minutes To Midnight

If you are a massive fan of their old sound, of the Nu metal, then you should definitely avoid this album. If you are a music fan with an open mind then you should definitely purchase this. The sound that they have created is incredibly different. I really don't know why they changed that much. Once I like a band's sound I really don't like it when they try and reinvent themselves to change that, and that's exactly what Linkin Park have done here. I bought Meteora as my first Linkin Park album back in 2003 and I instantly loved it. The sound of the music was so unique, and to a 13 year old, pretty surprising as well. Fallen

Not a bad album, especially for those 'Goths' who prefer the more Poppy, lighter side of things!

Amy Lee has a good voice. The music all sound a bit the same though.
Good tracks are Going Under, My Immortal and Tourniquet.

My only gripe is Evanescence have ripped off older Europian bands like Within Temptation, and have got really successful from it.

Still, a good CD though, especially for younger listeners.

Nickelback: The Ultimate Video Collection [2007]

A brilliant collection of lovely videos. Its a real shame the opening screen is backed by the rockstar song. It's true what they say, when it comes to Nickleback, that the worse the song the more popular it is. Why could it not be one of the others? A great DVD, with a video I hadn't even seen.
