Alright? I've said it. This is the best record I've ever heard, which, by definition, means I think it's better than the majestic Songs For The Deaf. No snap decision this; I bought this when it came out, I thought it then, I haven't changed my mind. Maybe my mind was more open at the time because I wasn't really aware of the importance of Nick Olivieri's role prior to his departure - but I certainly don't think that the album is poorer because he's not on it. In fact, I was delighted that Alain Johannes was able to contribute (and then bring his "Eleven" partner Natasha Schneider with him on the tour).

Era Vulgaris

As the title of this review says this album is awful. The best song by a long way is Sick, Sick, Sick which I first heard them perform live on the TV and thought, "Well hopefully things will get better". QOTSA are all about the tunes and heavy tunes at that.

This album is missing something and that something is Nick Oliveri. The bass is non-existent. Yuck this is just terrible.

I loved all their previous albums, I love the Desert Sessions, I loved Kyuss. What has gone wrong? I hate this album and all QOTSA have become: bloated crap.

Don't buy this! Buy any of their other albums! If you have all their other albums still don't buy it! Spend your money on some Nebula or Fu Manchu or put it in the bank.

This is most definately an album that deserves at least 3 listenings to from everyone who says they like listening to music because it is very very very good.

The opening title track 'Bombtrack' is a perfect track to listen to to understand this album because it is almost like a round up of everything to come in the rest of the album. Driving guitar riffs and licks (yes licks) from Morello and angsty hip lyrics from Zach. In fact the only thing it really doesn't convey about the album is quite the intricate brilliance of Morello's soloing ability and guitar playing. Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace

This is a brilliant album, perhaps even the Foo Fighters most complete album so far. I own every Foos album and although I love them all, I feel that there are generally a few filler songs on each album among the gems. However I find it difficult to pick faults in this album. As soon as 'The Pretender' bursts into life you are carried on a monumental journey of rock brilliance. The album flows so beautifully throughout with that raucous opening continued through to the middle of the album when a change of tone occurs and the lighter yet fantastically well thought out anthems of 'home', 'statues' and 'but honestly' give a nice sort of contemplation time at the end of the album after a good 7 or 8 songs of jumpy rock. There Is Nothing Left to Lose

This album is really good. Come on - as if you didn't already know that! With the Foo Fighters there is a certain level of quality that you expect- and they always deliver.
The BEST songs on the album are 'Breakout'(I Love the screaming!), 'Learn To Fly'(A pop song, but still good), 'Live-Skin'(A good song for various reasons). There are other songs that are good as well. Such as 'Gimme Stitches', 'M.I.A, ect. but the first three songs I mentioned are really good and you will remember them for years to come.
The album only has a few bad songs which suffer from being very boring('Generator').
The album also has some acousic(y) songs to offer such as 'Next Year' and 'Ain't It the Life'. So basically, if you like the Foo Fighters - buy this album!! ... Read More:

One By One

This is a collection of really well crafted songs, in fact, 'All My Life' is one of my all time favourite songs.The album has great vocals and guitar throughout but what on earth have they done with the drums and bass. Both sound as though they were recorded in a padded cell giving the impression that the drum kit was cobbled together on a budget of less that $100. In my dreams this album was produced by Jimmy Page with Flea on bass and John Bonham on drums. 'One by One' could have been a classic.

Oracular Spectacular

Sorry for this short and lazy review - which is no reflection of my feelings for this album. Oracular Spectacular is superb, MGMT is superb. And going for a bargain price at the time of writing too!
