Hearing this double act for the first time was commensurate to me with hearing I Get Around or I Feel Fine for the first time,swathes of vocal beauty matched with best Motown track that Carol Kaye et al never played on,everything on this disc reeks of Sixties RnB majesty,everything is perfectly arranged and executed,not a single note is wasted,within four bars Valerie becomes the song it was always meant to be,after hearing Ronson re invent Sail On Sailor on the Electric Proms,Ifound myself thinking to myself what I'd always felt was an impossibility,that being that anyone could produce a Wilson song better than the great man or his lil' brother,there seem to be no limitis to Ronsons talent,his rosta of artists on his cd harken back to Phillies greatest hours and in ... The problems in her life are evident in this performance. Amy Winehouse is an outstanding talent as can be witnessed in the documentary segment on the DVD. In the main concert she is either high or pi$$ed or both and although musically it is fine, she is clearly struggling with her voice and relating to the audience. The quality of the songs really carry the performance.
The person in the documentary is a different performer completely. That Any Winehouse is vibrant, energetic and in great voice. Sadly she appears to have since deteriorated more and unless she takes a different road is heading for tragedy.

Loved this track from the first moment i heard it, the hype is certainly deserved where this artist is concerned, Lyrics are important to me and can effect how much i like a song but 'Back to Black's' lyrics have such power and combined with her strong and distinctive vocals they make a killer combination, the album is full of gems like this one.

When it came out i felt at the time it was an album that signalled the start of the summer with sunny pop kissed tracks like "Knock em out", "Smile" and "LDN" and the cheesy catchy "Alfie" but i felt someone should have been there to rub the rough edges off her lyrics which started to be downright childish with the potty mouthed swearing and veering on the malacious especially on the track "Not Big" whilst making a poor attempt at an rnb/ballad in "Littlest Things".

If she is to do any better on her second album whenever it sees the light of day she should start growing up a little and be more precise with herself and the lyrics instead of repeating a tried and tested formula that has long gone past its sell by date!

I am a huge fan of her music and of her as a person, the biography is packed with information about her and how she got to where she is today, going in depth on a range of subjects relating to her life and her music. If you're a fan of the woman then I gurantee you'll enjoy this.

No second album syndrome for the glorious Amy Winehouse. On 'Back to Black' she has honed and developed her gorgeous jazz edged sound into something truly special!

This album explores a range of styles: from 60's inspired motown, including the James-Bond-theme-tune sounding title track (on which she sounds not unlike Shirley Bassey!), through delicious hip-hop tinged jazz on 'You know I'm no good' to gorgeous ballads including the superb 'Love is a losing game'.

Amy Winehouse's lyrics stand out on this album. She has a talent for writing about quite painful issues (loss of love, as on 'Tears dry on their own' or infidelity on 'You know I'm no good') with matter-of-fact honesty and incredible humour. Why do the tracklistings for singles with remixes on Amazon simply include only the song title? This is completely unhelpful in deciding if you want to purchase an item. The actual tracklisting for this CD is:

3. Love Is A Losing Game [Moody Boyz Original Ruffian Badboy Re-mix] (7:16)

Track 2 sounds like a fairly hip hop take on the track. Track 4 is a slow track like the original, with a 60's soul sound. The standout track is track 3 which is a dubstep take on the track.

Having now heard her album, to compare her to Lily Allen is a travesty. Adele is far better, her smooth voice and song writing skill for starters...

And whilst we're on the subject of comparisons, there's only one similarity to Amy Winehouse - and that is I love both of their albums, when my expectations were low.

Daydreamer: A chilled, melodic start to her debut album, but on first listen you kinda want to skip it to speed up your new listening experience. This is definitely one of those tracks you have to listen to a few times. Vocally she is very good.

Best For Last: Sounds quite bluesy, simple yet effective guitar backing throughout the beginning. Then the song gets going, catchy, warming and just simply easy to listen to. Love it.
