I guess we all remember our favourites from the anarchic and prodigious Comic Strip team. For my money, both the Five Go Mad episodes are still as side-splittingly hilarious as they were back in the 80's. The brilliantly observed War, Beat Generation, Summer School and The Strike remain both funny, extremely clever and surprisingly subtle in places. The absolutely barking mad Mr Jolly plays rather like an extended and ambitious episode of Bottom. Some of the send-ups, like The Bull******** (obviously spoofing The Professionals, but Robbie Coltrane is spookily close to Gene Hunt!), Slags, The Yob and Space Virgins are reasonably funny, but some of the obscure gags rely on the viewer being familiar with the material being spoofed. I brought this collection when i was home in the UK in january.
Ive been a big fan of adrian edmondson,,rick mayal,, jennifer saunders, nigel planner and dawn french from the days of the youngones and girls on top.
I had been wanting to buy this collection for sometime but just could not justify it at the time as there was so much other stuff i wanted before for example Bottom,, young ones, the new statesman black adder to mention a few.
I grew up with these comic genius when i left school in 1981 and the youngones was ground breaking stuff.
I never got to see the entire collection of the comic strip presents but im glad to say now i can.
Being a big fan of the vicar of dibley i also was glad to see the genius of dawn french. ... Read More:

This has to be one of the funniest programs I have ever seen. If your a Ritchie Rich and Eddie(Catflap)Hittler aka Rik and Ade Fan this is a must absolutely hilarious. My friends and I still quote this program chapter and verse to one another over 20 years on just shows you how memorable it is. Only complaint is that the BBC have really gone to town on the editing. I still have a video tape yes! a video tape of this I recorded off the TV back in the 80's and they have cut out a lot one of the best moments gone is the pick pocket scene were Ritchie sings lyrics from 'Oliver', superb.
