As a listener of ALL types of quality music from rock to classical.I was looking to buy an ALED JONES cd to chill out a bit as his voice is so amazing.So the obvious choice as I am not familiar with all his songs was to look for a Best of Aled Jones.I would like to thank the two reviewers Susie Veale and Gus Thomas for there positive comments which made me decide to buy the cd.The beautifull music on this QUALITY CD is amazing,anyone who has took the bother to look at this CD should purchase it as you certainly won't be disapointed

Reason to Believe

I was rather disappointed, there wasn't the clarity in his vioice, and I thought including Cerys Matthews a BIG mistake, she's terrible! One good thing with Aled is being able to hear every word, and as usual there is sincerity. I couldn't shake the feeling that his voice seemed to be showing signs of strain, was this caused by his apparently singing in a lower key?

He has such a strong personality, I hate having to be critical. I certainly don't endorse Susie's review, especially as I've listened to this CD several times now.

Aled [Special Edition]

I bought this CD for my mother-in-law as we both have similar taste in music. Since becoming Josh Groban fans we thought no one could match his fantastic voice, I was wrong .... Aled has a beautiful voice and all the tracks on this CD are brilliant. His version of 'O Holy Night' is just as good as Josh!
I will be buying Aled again!

A truly wonderful uplifting album. All of the tracks are superb. Deeply relaxing, and raise your spirits making you feel thankful for living. This is an album for anybody who has a spirit within them,who feels low or lonely or just as a pick -me -up. buy it and try it!!

New Horizons

Having been a fan of the choirboy Aled's recordings, I had enjoyed his transition to adulthood with 'Aled' and 'Higher'. Therefore it was with pleasurable anticipation that I sat down to listen to 'New Horizons'.
By the middle of the first track I was perplexed and after sitting through the whole cd my reaction was one of disappointment and concern. It wasn't a patch on the other two, something was missing and it was only after some thought that I could put my finger on it.
Aled sings throughout the whole cd with very minimal backing and good as his voice is, the whole effect of the previous recordings is missing. Where were Libera and the wonderful orchestra giving the volume, impact and pathos which I had come ... Read More:

Voices of the Valley

Excellent voices overpowered by incongruous orchestral accompaniment.The richness of the voices was spoiled for one who wants a male voice choir to be just that.This cd does more than it says on the tin,unfortunately.

I'm surprised by the number of reviewers who criticise Katherine because she has not performed in opera and then compare her unfavourably with leading opera singers. Nowhere on this CD (or any of her CDs and DVDs) is she described as an opera singer and her recordings do not claim to be opera. Her recordings do include some arias from opera (though not here) and these are sung very well, but she also includes Welsh songs,(again sadly none on this disc), hyms, songs from musicals and other works. This variety increases that buyers might not like every track. I bought this CD because it contains 'Samcta Maria' set to the music of the Intermezzo from Mascagmi's Cacalleria Rusticana' 'Be Still My Soul' the hymn set to the main theme from Finlandia by Sibelius and 'Somewhere' ... Josh Groban has an absolutely beautiful voice - a singer that steps on the line between baritone and tenor. It's quite an experience to listen to, and I got his album upon hearing great reviews from my friends who'd listened to him in America beforehand. Check him out, he is indeed very good. He has a very relaxing, lullaby-like tone - in a nutshell.

This is a compilation of Christmas songs, but, I (and hopefully, you) can listen to them any time of year - they're very relaxing. :)
