For me the interesting thing about Coleridge-Taylor is that there is a familiarity about his work on first hearing. I suspect this is because he was such a prominent composer in his day and greatly influenced contemporary and later composers. His tragedy was dying so young and so his fame was quickly outshone. I can almost guarantee that the Petite Suite de Concert will have a comfortable familiarity about it for you even though this will almost certainly be the first time you've heard it. Lauridsen - Lux aeterna

Quite a nice, easy sound at first but it soon wears off. I feel that there is one main compositional idea which the composer does to death. Eventually I couldn't tell one movement from the next.

Bernstein - Chichester Psalms

This recording of Bernstein's music is well worth trying. Rated highly by Gramophone magazine, it is well worth a hear.

The Chichester Psalms alone are good value, but the other tracks of Bernstein's music played admirably by the Bournmouth Symphony Orchestra are all excellent.

The tonality is scrummy and I can guarantee the hairs on the back of your neck will stand on end. Veni, Sancti is my favourite movement with Agnus Dei a close second. This CD is a must! The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher

I eagerly awaited the arrival of this book..... and then struggled to make myself finish it.

The facts of the case of interesting but the book is massively padded out with all manner of facts on victorian life and morals which I found very boring and tedious.

I thought I had bought a really gripping true crime story but I can't believe the author managed to make a whole book out of this.

I really hate not finishing a book so I made my way to the end.... and then wished I hadn't bothered. The book went straight in the box for the charity shop I'm afraid. Dull dull dull!

Truly magestic singing and a superbly clear recording. I have never really heard anything like it, but it is one of those CDs you will play again and again through out your life. Should be in the collection of every one who has has a wide taste in music. As you can tell I rather like this!
