Voices Of The Valley Encore

This could be any reasonably competent male voice choir. I WAS VERY DIASAPPOINTED WITH IT. It did not have the depth and resonance and passion of a 'proper' Welsh male voice choir like Treorchy.
It seems like a sanitised version.
Nowhere near good enough!!!

Excellent voices overpowered by incongruous orchestral accompaniment.The richness of the voices was spoiled for one who wants a male voice choir to be just that.This cd does more than it says on the tin,unfortunately.

This compilation offers a excellent combination of hymns and welsh folk songs, with brilliant quality sound. Unlike some other Welsh Male voice CD's the singing is not drowned out by an organ or have an underemphasis on one of the parts. Easily the best Welsh male voice I've bought and it has become a much appreciated present to many relatives.

The Best of the Treorchy Male Voice Choir

I don't like the idea that the hair doesn't stand up on the back of my neck and arms from the shear glory of the sound of the Welsh here. I would much prefer (as I am sure anyone wanting to hear the famous voice of the Welsh in song)the true way the songs were meant to be. This doesn't even represent the voices I heard on the way to the mines of the miners themselves, now that was a wonderful thing to hear and to witness in the morn. The heart and love of home is whats missing. There are much better to chose from.

Another really great offering from this Welsh Male Voice Choir that compliments the previous two. I thought the mix of "easy listening" and traditional choir pieces really set out the talents of this group. The voices are complimented with some beautiful arrangements and orchestrations to make it 45 minutes of sheer joy.

I'm surprised by the number of reviewers who criticise Katherine because she has not performed in opera and then compare her unfavourably with leading opera singers. Nowhere on this CD (or any of her CDs and DVDs) is she described as an opera singer and her recordings do not claim to be opera. Her recordings do include some arias from opera (though not here) and these are sung very well, but she also includes Welsh songs,(again sadly none on this disc), hyms, songs from musicals and other works. This variety increases that buyers might not like every track. I bought this CD because it contains 'Samcta Maria' set to the music of the Intermezzo from Mascagmi's Cacalleria Rusticana' 'Be Still My Soul' the hymn set to the main theme from Finlandia ...
