Another quality release from Global Underground! Now comes part 2 of the deep dish partnership. First was Sharam's mix, now comes Dubfire's turn. If a had to choose a winner, i think Dubfire's just edges it.
Dubfire's mix contains some outstanding tracks inc BarBQ, And If, Booka Shade, Samuel L Session and even Dubfire's own excellent 'I Feel Speed'.
A great addition to an already amazing Global Underground series.

GU30 Paris seems to follow on from GU28 yet moving in a different direction.
CD1 is the more chilled out CD, but to say chillout is to give it a disservice, try listening to it at four in the morning and it all makes sense. CD2 is definitely the more clubbier of the tunes, Nick's mixing is flawless and he manages to throw in a menagerie of tunes, 16Bit Lolita's Non Verbal Language - which reminded me of the Nick Hook Tune on his GU Amsterdam CD, Oliver Moldan and Isma Ae's Five Five Zero - a clever reggae dance tune with a deep dubby baseline, he then polishes these off with a trancier edge to the rest of the CD.
Nick Warren always manages to collect a group of tracks which are individually good and make them a whole lot better ... Read More:

You're obviously checking out these reviews to help clarify whether you should buy this or not.....
....just do it!!!
CD1 - Awesome down tempo, melodic beats - whilst at the same time not being like a typical Chill Out CD
CD2 - Banging - but melodic as well. Reminds me of the same kind of weave that perpetuates through CD1 of Shanghai. Listenable, banging, tuneful monsters!
Another awesome NW delivery - he always works his magic! For Nick to have done so many quality and individual GU CDs now is testament to the guy's style and longevity!

After all the bad write-ups concerning this mix, i was pleasantly surprised to find out that through all that noise and clatter, this mix actually does make sense after a few listens....
Now, after my 4th listen, i'm loving every single minute of it. Boy oh boy, this grows on you tremendously...

I bought this several months ago unwrapped it played it and didn't think it was that good, put it away and never played it untill now!..... WOW! put it on tonight over a glass or two of wine and a takeaway with my girl and both of us thought it was simply amazing!!!!!!!... Very cleverly put together and mixed, really deep quality tunes. You just can't help but be sucked in by the mellow deep trance tunes that turn to beautifull melodic enriched vibes. Its just one of those cd's you put on and find yourself drifting away while tapping your feet or nodding your head its simply sublime... I am a really big trance fan and own loads of excellent mixes collected over the last 18 years and i have to say this is defo up there with the best of them and makes my top5. Buy it now and ... C'monnnnn!!!!!! Someone's havin' a laugh here? Who are the jokers? Is it GU or Layo & Bushwacka? This is not good.... not good at all. I think I speak for most fans of good House Music by saying we cling to the hope that Global Underground are just going through a midlife crisis, but after this saucepan spanking rubbish I've started the mourning process. GU, if your reading; Why didn't you create another label for this sort of stuff, like 'Global BlunderSound' or `Now That's What I Call Chinese Torture'. Being a Club DJ myself I've kept a close ear to Layo & Bushwacka's movements, I hold a lot of admiration for these guys for what they've produced over the years and have been a huge fan since they started on the scene. However, I have listened to this double album several ... Read More:

As a long term fan of john Digweed going back to the groundbreaking Rennaisance 2 from 1995 I bought this CD and the first Transitions and clearly noted a change in the sound. There are still slight elements of his original progessive house sound on this CD up to 2002 but it leans much more towards the minimal techno sound that seem so prevalent at the moment. Much of the sounds are stripped down , functional, electronic sounding , what is gone is the deep, lusher more emotive melodic feel that you could have found on his previous albums such as MM11 and Bedrock from 1999.

Being a huge fan of the first 2 instalments, I was very keen to hear this offering.
Afterhours 3 is a bit more up-tempo than the first 2 volumes, but just as eclectic, and to me, that's what made the other 2 so great! Just like the previous mixes, the track selection is spot on and superbly mixed by Trafik.
The mix is split into 3 parts - organic, electronic and the future (un-mixed), which perfectly describe the moods created. The sound just washes over you - sit back and relax.
DON'T buy this if you're after some pop-house/run-of-the-mill mix (there are plenty of those to choose from), but DO get it you like something a bit different, dark and twisted!

Two totally different CD's for me, where CD1 is a more, almost typical Deep Dsih remix with various highlights, using an array of tunes only they can produce...yet CD 1 is for me a 5+* warm-up for CD 2
Chicken skin is CD 2 for me: deep, on some parts even dark, progressive and a built-up line of tracks from 1 to 13. Highlight when the tracks move from 'Skin Deep' from Pappay & Gilbey over to the soft, fabulous vocals from 'I wish you were here' with that funny tune on the back ground...A dark room, nothing but your stereo full out and feel Deep Dish giving you goose bumbs. An more than absolute master piece of these guys.

First of all I just have to say that this is quite probably my favourite ever cd! I have never felt compelled to write a review before but this CD is just so good that I hope other people get it and enjoy it as much as I do!
I have started to get into the Global Underground series more recently as I looked to increase and improve my dance cd collection, which was fairly limited to stuff like Leftfield, Underworld and lots of chillout music like Cafe Del Mar. After much research into what was seen as quality dance music by reading reviews on Amazon, I bought Sasha's Ibiza mix (GU13) first and enjoyed some tracks, but found it a bit trancey for my liking. Then I discovered Nick Warren had done some GU cds, and being a fan of Way out West I bought his Brazil mix (GU8). That was ok but ... Read More:
