I've never given the Foo Fighters the time or day, just never really got into them post Nirvana. Bought this album upon recommendation by a Foo fan. Upon first listen (whilst clearing out the garage) I knew there was something very important happening to me. Quite simply at that moment I became an instant Grohl/Foo fan. Having now backtracked on most of the Foo's catalogue from my own perspective, this is not only my favourite of theirs but quite possibly the most important 'rock' album in my CD collection and remains a permanent fixture in the car ! Love it Love it Love it. It's so good, I find it difficult to believe these aren't reworkings of old classics, but of course respect Dave Grohl's song writing abilities as well as his virtuoso ... This album is really good. Come on - as if you didn't already know that! With the Foo Fighters there is a certain level of quality that you expect- and they always deliver.
The BEST songs on the album are 'Breakout'(I Love the screaming!), 'Learn To Fly'(A pop song, but still good), 'Live-Skin'(A good song for various reasons). There are other songs that are good as well. Such as 'Gimme Stitches', 'M.I.A, ect. but the first three songs I mentioned are really good and you will remember them for years to come.
The album only has a few bad songs which suffer from being very boring('Generator').
The album also has some acousic(y) songs to offer such as 'Next Year' and 'Ain't It the Life'. So basically, if you like the Foo Fighters ... Read More:

I'm glad that I had got The Colour and the Shape and Nothing Left to Lose before I got this. To me is has always sounded rougher and a lot less commercial than the later albums. I like it more now but it took me a while to get into as it isn't as polished and some of the songs sound a bit messy and dated.
One of my favourite songs from this album is `Exhausted'. I thought there was something wrong with my CD when I first heard it! It's made up of static or feedback (something like that I'm not a technical person when it comes to music), and drumming. You really get used to it after a couple of listens and it sounds a lot better but very moody and distant sounding. It was the same with the rest of the album really- at first I wasn't sure, but I ... Read More:

I love this album! At first I thought the second cd was boring, but after having heard it a few more times I liked it more and more, and now I think I like the quiet one even better than the loud one. I love the melodies and the calm sound, it`s great!

This is a collection of really well crafted songs, in fact, 'All My Life' is one of my all time favourite songs. The album has great vocals and guitar throughout but what on earth have they done with the drums and bass. Both sound as though they were recorded in a padded cell giving the impression that the drum kit was cobbled together on a budget of less that $100. In my dreams this album was produced by Jimmy Page with Flea on bass and John Bonham on drums. 'One by One' could have been a classic.

The Live album Skin and Bones is a brilliant and varied album from the Foos. Feauturing classics such as 'Times like these' and 'best of you' peformed live by Dave Grohl and co. - a must-have for Foo fighters fans - the lyrical performances are strong and emotive, even though you're not witnessing it live, the recording is excellent. Grohl is stripped to his acoustic core, in this brilliant and inspiring live album, truly amazing!

I was at the Hyde Park concert and it was a windy day and the sound although in quadrophonic sound kept coming and going which was damn annoying.
The DVD removes all this and is absolutely without question or doubt the best music DVD that is available on planet earth and brings such fantastic memories of the whole day, drunk Ozzies everywhere but such vibrant fun people I'll never forget their zest for the now and damn tomorrow, made me 10 years younger.
The only disapointment is that the two disc set could have been made up from the supporting acts on the day, Julia And The Licks who were stunning,Motorhead who took the wrinkles out of my face for 40 minutes and still must make all other bands feel inferior and the kick ass Queens Of The Stone ... It's great to have a DVD of a gig one has actually been to. I went to the Friday show, which of course didn't feature Jimmy Page, but it was still a great night. The atmostphere was amazing, which is captured quite well by the filming and the gig was definately a highlight of 2008 for me! A must for any Foo Fighters fan!

Having achieved moderate levels of success with their self-titled debut and Rated R, Queens Of The Stoneage finally hit the big leagues with their third album, Songs For The Deaf. The last album featuring the revolving door policy of old, the QOTSA group on this album features Josh Homme, Nick Oliveri, ex-Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan and most notably, with the Foo Fighters in disarray, Dave Grohl making a welcome return to drums.
Songs For The Deaf finds Homme streamlining the sexy yet doom-laden groove of the previous two albums into something almost perfect. Mixed as a shift between radio stations from song to song, Homme covers more styles here than ever before. Big hit 'No One Knows' is a straight-out pop song; 'Hangin' Tree' is an unsettling, psychedelic ... Read More:

Quite simply the best peice of music to exist today. Each and every song is an epic and will leave you listening to it over and over again. Cobains voice is powerful throughout the album and for me its hard to pick out a favourite song but it will have to be "Drain You". If you like music and havent heard this album yet, then you must. it was the beginning of a passion for rock music for me and it still gets played very loudly on my hi-fi.
