For months I had been waiting for some new kind of music to place on my ipod and I became bored of most mainstream chart music.

Blake is a breath of fresh air. Okay, so it is a bit operatic, but they are far better than Il Divo. My own personal favourites is their version of "Take My Breath Away", "Gladiator" and "Vide Cor Meum" (which is from the movie Hannibal). The songs that are sung in Italian are a treat, especially if you like to romance things up with your missus... I would say this is a great CD for Christmas as well.

This CD has a conservative song selection and a conservative style, which some people may not like. However, the across the board musicianship of this group is superb!! The pitch and harmonies are vastly superior to Il Divo for example, but you have to be able to 'hear' perfect pitch and harmonies and really care about quality, to know the difference.--:)---We don't have classically trained musicians like this in the USA, putting out albums like this anymore, so you don't know how spoiled you are!!-----Blake takes its time in developing its songs and harmonies, and does not AT ALL cater to what will sell!!---They are musicians first and foremost, and if you cannot handle a group's conservative choice to be fantastic singers FIRST ... Teatro

I had decided not to write a review of any album, but I have to for this one. I am now on my third(?) copy I lose track. I can't believe how wonderful their voices are and the charisma they ooze. An unbelievably talented group and all I can say to Sony is "Your loss!" Which is what they are proving at the moment. As well as continuing to perform as the magical Teatro they're individually reaching great heights.
Simon Bailey is Raoul in the new cast of Phantom and wowing them every night. Jeremiah James is about to star in Carousel with Lesley Garrett (which I can't wait to see btw!) and Stephen Rahman-Hughes and Andrew Alexander are both involved in other projects. Mamma Mia! [2008]

My wife and I went to see the stage show about a year ago ..... I didn't think I would enjoy it, but I did .... brilliant show.

Then the film came out and we went to see it with some friends, I was convinced that the film would be cheesy and wouldn't be able to hold a candle to the stage show ......... it's one of the most entertaining films I've ever seen ....... lifts your mood and is a really excellent feel good experience.

OK so Brosnan isn't anything of a singer, but it doesn't matter because it makes the film more believable, (even though it's all pretty far fetched), and if all the singers were perfect then it would be a bit too cheesy.

Cannot recommend this enough!!!!

The Promise

This is the best CD that Il Divo has ever done. Some of the tracks such as "Power of Love, La Promessa, L'alba Del Mondo are just excellent. Their cover of the song Hallelujah there is no words to describe it, simply excellent comes to mind. The song choice on the album is very diverse. It is a must have CD for any fan.

Tenor At The Movies

Russell Watson! Its pretty obvious, since Russells horrendous illness, that all these young hopefulls come out of the woodwork, trying to do that bit better. Jonathan, very nice though you are, sorry mate, but you've got too much competition nowadays. no one can ever better Russells amazing voice. Need I say more?

One Voice

Got my copy two days ago and what can I say? Not one 'duff' track on the whole album! Andrews beautiful rendition of Claptons 'Tears In Heaven' is just so moving the way he sings it. An Abba track, a Lennon track and a Lloyd Webber track has just got to make this the best selling classical album of this year! I hope we get a Christmas album from this lad? Good luck Andrew!

Forever

This is a great album - head and shoulders above many other cross over attempts that are around at the moment. It demonstrates not only Jonathan Ansell's amazing vocal range but his growing richness of tone and emotional interpretation that marks him as one of the up an coming world class tenors - and bodes well for many future albums!

High points for me are Amor Tio Vieta , Canto Della Terra, Libiamo and Hoppipolla - the latter being a Sigur Ros track that is an absolute gem.

As with any album - there may be a couple that for personal taste come lower down the 'play it again' scale - possibly Hearts of England has the least effect on my pulse rate - not because of the quality of the singing but the quality of the song - not ... Read More:

Into Paradise

Grotesque, air brushed caricatures nearly put me off buying this. Not in the same league as the inspiringly beautifully natural first cover. WHERE'S THE SIMPLICITY GONE.

Slightly disappointed, just very slightly. I should have listened to my instincts and I wouldn't have missed much. I get more enjoyment from the debut album. This album is all right. But just all right. It's not got what the first album had - good choice of crossover songs. This time around they have picked songs that cannot be improved or sound similar to what's gone before. Shame because I love the first album - its one that I put on when I'm busy and before I know it I end up sitting down putting my feet up and just chillin right through to the end of the album. I'm surprised by the number of reviewers who criticise Katherine because she has not performed in opera and then compare her unfavourably with leading opera singers. Nowhere on this CD (or any of her CDs and DVDs) is she described as an opera singer and her recordings do not claim to be opera. Her recordings do include some arias from opera (though not here) and these are sung very well, but she also includes Welsh songs,(again sadly none on this disc), hyms, songs from musicals and other works. This variety increases that buyers might not like every track.
