Much of the time bands who have gone into hibernation return with albums which are mere shadows of their previous work. This album is the complete opposite and successfully captures the eerie tones which occupy many of their best songs. I simply cannot pick a favourite from an album which oozes style.

Ok, when i first buy my cd i always drift through it, listen to the song with a gd start and gain a first impression. First impressions weren't good. so i left it a couple of weeks and decided to listen to it again, this time the whole way through. thinking i didn't like it i was pretty reluctant to do so, but i did and i was shocked, shocked at how i had completely missed coldplays aim. to create a quility album which isn't too full on. every song is brilliant in its own way, hardly any of the songs are the same but they are all great. if coldplay havn't been your thing in the past give them another go, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Really enjoyed this fast-paced exhilerating album. It's actually the exactb album they promised after automatic but they gave us monster instead. Monster would be an interesting avant-guard sort of thing to be doing these days. Instead we get something so good we just don't deserve it. Unbelievably good and so reminiscent of lots of pre-green albums.

I've left reviewing this for nine months and literally hundreds of listens. I don't believe that there's ever been another album I've played so often. And there's no sign of my growing tired of it. On the basis of a huge number of plays, I feel qualified to say that this is a truly wonderful album without a single weak track.
After seeing Goldfrapp on two consecutive nights (at Brixton) in November 2008, I couldn't bear to listen to anything other than Goldfrapp. Naturally, I gave their previous three albums fresh listens, as well as Seventh Tree. I was struck by the degree of continuity between the four albums. Some people will tell you that Seventh Tree is quite different from what went before. I no longer think that's true, the four ... Having generally skipped most of her albums since "Ray of Light" the 'new' image and musical direction shown on "4 Minutes" did little to make me want to buy this on initial release. However as a fan of older style Maddie tracks "Give It To Me" and the less dated "Miles Away" tipped the balance in the end.
The problem wth an album like this is it isn't going to impress genuine R'N'B or Rap fans, and neither is it going to satisfy the fans who want a follow-up to the dance-pop of "Confessions". So give her her due, she decided to straddle the genres and see what happened!
There are some good tracks on here, but there are also some painfully overlong ones and bouts of very lazy lyrics (something more apparent in recent albums). Starting ... Read More:

I got this for nothing, fortunately. I can't understand all the comparisons with Scott Walker. Yes, there is an orchestra involved and the arrangements are very full and reminiscent of the sixties but the voice!!! Aargh! It's horrible. And the lyrics are pathetic. Overrated, overstated, overblown. It gets two stars for the very good musicianship and interesting arrangements. But that voice...

This, the fourth album proper from the band, starts well with two songs that sound fresh, lively and a little different before normal service is resumed with mixed results. I wish they'd continued with the sunnier upbeat vibe of those opening tracks and made this their summer album (I already see 'Agaetis' as their wet behind the ears Spring album and '( )' their chilly winter disc). When compared to the previous three albums you'd have to conclude that this is the weakest but it is still an enjoyable listen.
The next album will be the real test for the band as more of the same might not be enough to keep everyone interested.

See how they prance on the beach. Look at the hippy's long pink shorts. Aren't they cheeky?
Good little pop number this - will never set the world alight, but a fun-filled head-nodder. Pop should be fun I think! This is as much fun as when Michael Jackson cut down a tree with his hand, or when Madonna wore coffee filters on her boobies.
