as a CC fan, big time, I was more than glad to get hold of this. First listen said, this stuff is strange, there is a discordant note running through it, deliberate discord, which is -not quite offputting but uncomfortable in a way. Then the second and third listens and you realise it is what Adam Duritz was aiming at, the album is not intended to sit easy in the mind, hence the discordant piano here and there and the strange repeated lyrics. Overall I found it a good mix, a good balance, I found the same lonely/needing/heartache/misunderstood lyrics along with some good fast rocking numbers which made the drive to work, when all music is listened to, within the confines of the car, very loud, a real treat. Hey Ma

The world wept when james , went their separate ways , but now it rejoices with truly an awesome and moving album.
Forget the grandstanding bands like U2 and the vacuous Coldplay this is the real deal , both confronting and inspirational. The standouts are for me bubbles , hey ma and coming home but it is of monsters , heroes and men which will stay with you for a while , simply stunning.

Diamond Hoo Ha

Now, had this been another band, this album would be easily a 5 star. It's just, all of Supergrass's albums deserve 5 stars!

I must say, at first I wasn't too excited about this one. I already had 4 of the songs (the best ones really) - Hoo ha, Rebel in you, Whiskey, and Bad Blood. And the others just didn't seem to come close. But after listening more, as with much other Supergrass stuff, they get better every listen (the opposite of most good stuff). I really don't know how they do it!

And each album (although with much variation) has a different sound and feel to the others. While 'I should Coco' is the crazy one, the Xray album is the darker one, and 'Road to Rouen' is the mellow one, this one is the glam-rocky one (not traditional ... Read More:

Consolers Of The Lonely

I never usually get albums on their day of release; what I normally do is wait for reviews and then go out and buy the album but with Consolers of the Lonely this was not the case. I applaud the raconteurs for bypassing the music press and just letting the fans enjoy the music without some high almighty critic clouding their better judgement. This album is another belter from Jack and co. The album starts off with the hypnotic groove of the near title track Consoler of the Lonely topped off with White's trademark solo we have all come to love. R.E.M. Live

Not being a huge REM fan in the first place, I bought this CD purely because it was cheap...but it has converted me! Some of the songs on here are classics while others are less well known (to me anyway). However, it's the DVD that pushed this up to 4 stars. How I wish I had been at that concert now, especially when "Losing My Religion" started!

Gorgeous rich sound - very similar to the accoustics when I went to see the band play live at the Southampton Guildhall - that may be due to the location where the album was recorded. Unpredictable melodies and key changes make this a wonderfully challenging listen and something of an emotional rollercoaster. So grown-up that poppy hits like "Get Over It" seem almost too simplistic and commercial. Awesome musicianship and highly versatile vocals. Definitely my album of the year! If you like this, check out Elbow's "Seldom Seen Kid".

Last Night

Last night is a fantastic album in the typical style of Moby.
These tracks are reproducing 70's and 80' as Moby wrote in the introduction.
Classic disco style, the same as Moby created in his early career.
(Sorry for my English)

I prefer it for everybody who love Moby or who don't know Moby but love old disco hits.

Stay Positive (Limited Edition Special Package)

I just wanted to say that I am flabergasted by the 2 reviews whcih rate this as 2 stars. I would say that if anything, the first 2 albums are a band finding their feet, Boys and Girls in America sees them finally perfect the early sound and this is something else entirely.
Craig Finn's voice is definitely at it's best on this album as is Tad Kubler's outstanding guitar (check the J Mascis' esque solo on 'Lord I'm Discouraged.)
Elsewhere, banjo and harpsichord add an element never heard before and if you're looking for a Chips Ahoy! look no further than the title track itself. I literally have not stopped playing this and have recommended it to most of my mates, who also have been won over (even my old man who is very sceptical of hype!)

Do You Like Rock Music?

This album is another of a growing number of sophisticated, intelligent masterpieces that have all the intelligence and artistry of prog rock but without the pretentions of the first appearance of this genre. Hugh full frontal big soundscapes and in particular the crescendo of "Atom" reminicent of A Day in the Life by the Beatles including an air raid siren no less...... Play loud and just let it all wash over you.... surreal

You Can Do Anything

In term of success this album doesn't make it. I've seen the videos to 'Always right behind you' and 'What's you problem'. Always right behind you was average and what's your problem is a real let down. As for the music The Zutons sound like they didn't put much work into the lyrics or the tune for that matter. For example 'You could make the 4 wall cry' starts 'if the world was oblong shape then you would make it square' that doesn't sound like effort to me.
