The new album by the best guitarist in the world bar none - you really need to know no more ! I heard Sonny Landreth by accident on "Last FM" and was so captivated that i rushed out and bought all of his albums that i could lay my hands on. Unfortunately because of the English mentality that was "none" at the time and I had to order from the USA. If you're coming to Sonny Landreth now you are luckier as these fine albums are now available in this country easily through Amazon. This is Mr Landreth's latest offering and a fine piece of work it is too. Most albums featuring "guest stars" can get a little tiresome as it can turn into a "spot who's playing what" exercise but this is a fabulous album where everything just blends together perfectly. ... I liked this album a lot. It starts off strong and gets better through to the two songs at the end, which for me were the highlights. Beautiful lyrics, beautiful voice, beautiful music, beautifully produced. A melancholy album pretty much through and through I felt, and that would be my only criticism. Nothing pacey and upbeat to help mix it up a bit. Four stars from me.

The obvious question seems to be why did they wait 35 years to release this material, it's wonderful. I feel sure that most of this material could readily fit on any of Tom Pettys other albums though the Mudcrutch material does have a more country music feel than his other material. The best tracks for me are 'Shady Grove' and 'Lover of The Bayou', neither of which TP wrote. All said there isn't a bad track on the album.
Instrumentally this album delights too. Tom Leadons country-rock style nicely compliments Mike Campbells perfection. TP doesn't take lead vocals on every track but the others don't disappoint.
So what's everyone waiting for? It's a must for every Tom Petty fan or even if you're not, go and spend a few quid and ... Read More:

I've been listening to the album for a couple of days now and it just gets better everytime. I love stripped down well recorded work like this and I knew I would not be disappointed knowing Lofgren (Hi NILS!) was doing this. Great musician and wonderful work all round. Neil's old Martin as well as the heirloom piano fit beautifully!
Love ya Nils, Love ya Neil and 'Long May You Boys Run'...

You can't dance to it, it isn't remotely cool and it's by a man in his sixties with a strained, nasally voice. And it's great.
After four decades of writing and releasing music - albeit with some extended intervals - this new album stands to be compared favourably with the best Newman has ever produced.
In songwriting terms, "genius" is a much overused and devalued expression, regularly applied these days to anyone who can muster three basic chords along with a grasp of kindergarten English. In reality, few songwriters can match Newman's genius: Bob Dylan and Tom Waits come to mind; beyond that you're already struggling.
If there's a criticism, it's that at 35 minutes it's far too short when he's clearly on such fine form. ... Read More:

How this is averaging so low is beyond me - it's the best album I've heard all year by a country mile. The alternative take of Can't Wait - magestic, unsettling, and superior to the original release in every way - would alone make this unmissable. Add to that the alternative takes of Mississippi - his greatest song of the last decade - and the wonderful unheard track, Girl from the Red River Shore, and this is absolutely essantial. Don't listen to the naysayers - this is a great record.

Fantastic album Pacific Ocean Blue, just get it and listen to it, plus the bonus tracks and the additional lost album 'Bambu', all beautifully packaged, make this a worthy tribute to a flawed genius; Dennis Wilson.

Karma ? Yin and Yang ? Synchronicity ? Who Know's.
What I do know for sure, however, is that having spent
a couple of painfully wasted hours listening to Santogold's execrable
debut album I was very ready for some honest musical sustenance.
I found it here In Ryan Bingham's most recent album 'Mescalito'.
Comparisons abound but try to put them to one side.
Let's listen to Mr Bingham on his own evident merits.
Somehow honesty and authenticity shines through in all
music of worth and this is indeed a very worthy little album.
The grit and gravel in our hero's voice serves his material well.
Whether in slippin' and slidin' stompers such as 'Bread and Water'
and "Dollar A Day', or ... Read More:
